It’s just the avionics sled inserted about halfway into the bay.

You can see the aluminum channels it slides into.

The second pic shows what it looks like after the 1/4" aluminum mounting plate is installed and the 1/2" forged-steel all-thread and eyenuts are installed for flight.

Chuck C.

Chuck,

As a safeguard against those eyenuts loosening and coming off, you might want to install two nuts on the threaded shaft, inside the loop. Use two wrenches to "jam" them against each other, to act as a "stop", just in case.

Or run a wire across the eyenuts. Then they can't turn too far.

That's what I think I'm seeing. If correct, you've created multiple potential "hinge points"?

Well...At least no one would ever be able to accuse you of being nutless..

Good input guys on the eye-nuts.

I like the way you think. If it can go wrong it will.

Exciting news Chuck! Your 50ft Chute is all cut, along with Neil Browns 50ft Chute. We plan to sew both this weekend hopefully, it’s all coming together! On the end it’ll be a piece of art.

Check this video out Chuck, it shows the process of rolling out a 50 footer, well a small portion of it. Took about 3 hours to roll out, probably 9-10 hours to sew on Sunday at full pedal throttle. LDRS is coming up fast!

Btw is your rocket 12” or 16” Diameter?

Chuck,

I came across an old thread that included information about a Nose Cone made by Curtis ( Performance Rocketry ) . . .

Given the nature of this project and the fact the reinforcing the Nose Cone you got from him looks like it will be the course of action you take, please refer to posts #5 - #8 in this thread about the construction methods and accompanying issues.

Looks big Buddy!

Inside diameter of the rocket is 11.38”. 4+ ft of usable length depending on how far up the nosecone the bulkhead is placed.

Should be plenty.

Pretty cool to see those chutes being made. That’s a lot of work.

Appreciate what you and your team are doing.

To all "Steely-Eyed Missile Men" . . .

Thanks to "intelligence", gathered during the parachute-making video, I located a 17-year old image of our "Fearless Leader", on the occasion of his unsuccessful Level 3 Certification attempt, in September, 2002 ( first pic ) . . . In the following images, and video, success came a month later, in November, 2002 !

Heck I don’t care. If my time in a Turkish prison in the 70’s for smuggling comes out so be it lol.

Thanks for posting the pics. Can’t believe it’s coming up on 20 years.

Chuck. I’ve made a little more progress this afternoon. These are the jacks being attached to the outriggers.

Your welding is as professional as it gets Levi. I'm not an expert but I do know a good weld when I see one.

This mobile launch platform is going to be one of the finest out there. We got lucky to have someone like you take the lead and do it right.

Thank you.

Chuck C.

Thank you chuck. We are getting close to being done with it. I plan on getting it mounted on the trailer tomorrow and getting the hydraulic hoses made.

Levi,

How is it going to be finished ?

Painted ?

Powder-Coated ?

Chrome-Plated ? ( Chuck could get a matching, chrome-plated "George Patton" WWII battle helmet - LOL )

Thanks,

Dave F.
