The latest C&EN has a little article about a less polluting solid oxidizer than AP.

NABTNE (nitraminodiacetic acid bis 2,2,2-trinitroethyl ester) is said to have a similar density to AP, a high decomp temp, is insensitive to friction and impact and has the same specific impulse as AP. And it doesn't leave a smoke trail, apparently.

Anyone here heard anything else?

Odd hazards? Or just the expense?
Other than not being approved by our various governing bodies. I don’t think that would stop the amateur (not MR/HPR) side.

The C&EN article noted that some of the intermediate reagents are by no consideration ’green’ and it’s unlikely that it can be scaled up and made much cheaper.
