Hi I've heard by someone the Alps printer is the one to have for making decals?
Someones got one for sale for CAN $25.00 in my city.
Is there any model I should avoid or are they all good for this?
The lady was talking about some ribbon ?
Please let me know ASAP

Mikey

I use a MD 1000 and it works great. I also heard that the MD 5000 is great. These two you can print white with I am not sure about the others. If it was one of the models I would go for it. Just make sure it works though.

As for the ribbon it uses 4 ribbons for the printing. You can get them on line still and not to bad priced.

I hope this helps a little.

Hi I spoke to her again ,it's a MD1000:)

She says she got a newer printer ie laser.
I guess I have to figure out how to work it now:)

thanx I will join up and start sifting trough all the info.
Seems like I lucked out with the $ for it:)
Initially I was going to buy all decals I need but I keep adding up stuff on a everyday basis.
I have roughly 10 scratch built rockets sitting and a thick binder with stuff I want to build
Buying all these decals would be pricey so even with a small investment it will pay for itself within 10-15 scratch builds.
Cool I'm hooked allready.

If it is a MD1000 and works I would grab it. I got a good deal at $100.00 for mine. Great find.

Yeap! if it's an MD-1000 for 25.00 jump on it! Like most of the others who have posted, my Alps MD-1000 went for 100.00 bucks new.
I strongly suggest the purchase of several of the white ribbon cartridges as soon as you can locate them;) silver and gold are also very useful. the standard CYMK cartridges are still fairly easy to get.

Is there any chance they are going to stop making some of the colors?
Sounds like I better grab some of the white cartridges.
Thanx guys you are awesome:)

I had heard on Alps at Yahoo that the contract to continue to make ribbons through 2006, BUT thats a foggy memory for me.

As well, one of the threads over at the Yahoo Alps site made mention that another company was making a ribbon cartridge that worked perfectly with the Alps, IF you added a proper code or piece of tape to the bottom - again, foggy memory on this item.

BUT if your Alps is working, youve gotten quite the deal. Here are some resources:
