Hey folks.
We left quite quickly on Sunday afternoon to get back to Michigan. Totally didn't clean out my 75 at motor casing of the liner, etc. Now... she's in there good. Suggestions for how to save my 7680 case?

Appreciate the advice all!
Heat is your friend; it will expand the case slightly and soften the grease. Use a heat gun, run hot water over it, let it sit in the sun, etc. I've a used a hair dryer and some patience on a 98mm N case when the late season sun wouldn't do the trick.

Huge shoutout to the Kloudbusters.. Got my L1 at Airfest, 3566 on a h550st.. wrecked one due to a forward closure failure, probably operator error, and lost Aim 54 Warhawk.. All in all, a great weekend with all you, thanks for the laughs!

Congrats on the Level 1, bummer on the rest.

Beautiful Flame on that flight, @Tookanforever !

Congrats on the L1 !!

Sorry that you wrecked one (*) and lost one ...

(*) EDIT ... you reminded me of an old joke ...

Little Johnnie's teacher asked him how his weekend was.

"Horrible, a car hit my dog in the ass," he said.

The teacher corrected, "Johnnie, we say 'rectum.'"

Little Johnnie replied "Rectum? Damn near killed him!"

I just know there is a way to modify this oldie so that it could apply to a forward closure failure :) :)

If hot water, soap, and a little heat won't work trying putting it in a plastic bag and soak it down with Shooter's Choice Shotgun and Choke tube cleaner. Close the bag up and let it set in the sun for 4 or 5 hours. It will also leave a very thin coating on the inside of the case which will help next time.

A few of us were out recovering our AMRAAM today and pulled 2 sections of green booster out of the field from what looked like a 2 or 3 stage attempt.. Looked like a 54mm cti case in one of them. We turned it in to the LCO around 1 today and then moved it to the container during cleanup. I have no pictures but I can provide our track if your interested in where it landed. The two pieces were about 300 ft apart and 400 ft from our recovery location.

Having you phone number written on your rocket in multiple places REALLY helps getting your rocket(or parts) back to the owner. Chute, chute protector, shock cord, motor case, av bay, small numbers on outside of the rocket. Last year we found an av bay in the field. A phone number written on the outside got it back to the owner post haste.
If you don't want your phone number on your rocket, you can use your NAR/Tripoli number.

Just wanted to pop in and thank Cory, Amy, and the entire Kloudbusters crew for putting together another smooth and awesome Airfest. What a blast! Already counting down the days until next year.

Bummer the Punisher couldn't fly, but I'm glad you discovered the issue before it was on the pad!

And the rest of the "good" photos. My autofocus motor on my long range lens suffered some damage out at Spaceport so I have a lot of photos and only a few useable. Guess that means I need a brand new Nikon Z9 and new lens set right?

We were walking out in that field when it happened, dodging parts. Picked up his avbay sled and the 3D printed tailcone….
Beautiful rocket, hope he found the fins, would make a good cutting board. :D

Oh! You showed that to my dad and I! Great to meet you!

What altitude did that O25000 reach?

Which piece? ;)

Sadly, the airframe wasn't up to the task. I think the rocket went from ignition to several thousand feet in a second, at most, and unfortunately it came apart.

Jay is doing some puzzling over what caused the failure.

Sorry, didn't realize this rocket was one of the aforementioned stories about pieces falling from the sky. BUT, that is one heck of a great launch photo!

Hats off to Kloudbusters for another well run event. What a great few days we had out in the middle of nowhere all sharing in this great hobby. Met some great people, bought some good stuff, had some good flights, and all around good fun. I've attached a pic of my LOC Minnie Magg "Pinky T" decicated to my great wife that supports my efforts and is always there at every launch :clapping:

I would like to thank the Kloudbusters team for putting on a very well run event! Would like to also thank the multiple recommendations we received to stop off at the Cosmosphere on the way home, great museum with lots of really cool exhibits which my boys loved!

I went to space camp there! On the third year, they took us down to Houston and we got to go behind the scenes at the space center there. It's a wonderful program with wonderful people. Got to build all sorts of science experiments, including building and flying rockets.

I had a high quality vinyl sticker made up by Stickershock, with name, phone number, and TRA number. You can get a lifetime supply for about 20 bucks. They go on all of my mid and high power rockets. While searching a canyon at NARAM for my lost rocket that had caught a thermal (it was a beautiful hike, anyways), I received a cell phone call from the RSO table that it had been turned in. I did find two other rockets down there, it was a nice way to spend 3 hours in Colorado. Happy ending!

That’s not my happy face Adrian…
Friday we had a ceiling around 3k, Blackstar Jr. on a I218, one of the few rockets we brought that could stay under it.
