I'm late to the party, but wanted to get in on the hype thread :) Only bringing a few rockets, but that's kinda my thing: 5" diameter Arcas on an N2000, Transonic/Tiny-T two stage on a K600 Brilliant Blue to J94. But I'm probably most excited about the return of Da Spool after a 13 year absence:

It's almost go time; can't wait to see everyone!

Wayne, the Kloudbuster Air Show team will indeed make an appearance early Saturday morning flying the Aerotech Phoenix gliders on the 32mm G-12's. These flights will be in honor of Joe Grubb, the fourth KB Air Show member, who passed away in October of 2020.
I thought I had a video of that show. Can't seem to find it now. Couldn't believe how long those G12's burned.
Now Chuck H. has posted up with another Arcas and another N2000, one of my favorite White Lightning loads!
That spool looks deadly, I'm guessing it's not a featherweight recovery....

The Kloudbuster Airshow Team will indeed reconvene for Airfest 28! (though we'll greatly miss having Joe standing alongside us on the sticks:().

We should include a real Extra 200 in the future for ultimate shock value… I know a guy.. 🙄😉

You've got me thinking I should fix and fly my spool. It's a plastic wire spool (mostly Gorilla Tape and hot glue) that flies on 29mm motors. I *really* like to fly smokey motors in it!. Gotta dig up some kevlar for a shock cord, and some...

Depends where you park! Gosh, I hope not!

Though I heard the Kloudbusters have a Closest to Erick's Car contest running this year...and I am fairly competitive! ;)
10 points for Griffindor if you help me get a new hood again…

Gotdamn!!!

CRV is all packed up and ready to hit the road around 5-6am tomorrow.

My coffee, orange juice, egg and sausage sammich, and a much needed 10 hour road trip awaits. What better way to kick off a nearly 2 week vacation away from the chaos of an engineering department.

Looking forward to sun on the face, rockets in the sky, and seeing all you lot.

Safe travels everyone!! We'll see you all Friday morning.

Challenger STS 51L flew its maiden flight today on an AT N2000 to 21,000 feet AGL. 20,500 per Missileworks and 21,600 per GPS. Mach 1.75. Typical shakedown motor. Will put video together and up on Youtube when I get back home in a few days.

This is a Wildman Competitor 5 rocket.

Five inch diameter by 121” long after some lengthening to better accommodate my planned flights.

20 lbs loaded no motor and 48 pounds pad weight with motor.

Painted in a memorial Space Shuttle Challenger scheme. Crew members names are placed on the nose in their actual seating positions for the 51L flight that took place January 28th 1986, ending shortly after takeoff in a catastrophe felt across the nation with the loss of all seven aboard. Here is my L3 Hybrid attempt which did not fare well. We had problems with the nitrous loading. I think the dip tube came off/broke off during the trip out to Argonia.
Before we pushed the button the guys thought they saw a liquid vent, obviously not. In hindsight I should have inverted the tank and checked flow with it in that orientation to be sure.
A big thanks to Bob Brown for giving me the opportunity, and a big thanks to Jim Cooper for helping me set up and providing the launch controls!

Flew my minimum diameter Carbon Fiber rocket to just over 28,000ft! I had a Kate 3 for tracking and 2-Marsa 33’s for deployment. Rocket weighted 25lbs on the pad, and used a mike fisher fin can.

Buddy I was impressed with how quickly you were able to get that rocket. Where was it?

Take aways from Airfest28:

- It's hard to drink enough water to keep your pee the right color.
- The Tripoli clubs from Texas know how to do a shrimp boil
- Kloudbusters know what they are doing
- Don't argue with Bob.
- Trackers on EVERYTHING. Rockets like to play hide and seek in the beans.
- Terry Smemo is a hilarious LCO
- R/C rocket gliders are really really cool especially when they drag race
