Woke up this morning early, thinking about my 4” Punisher. I’ve been trying for a couple of years to come up with a name and may have found one finally. How about Dragginit or Dragonit? It’s first flight was a drag race, and it’s been in a few since then...

The one incident I remember was a rocket made of PVC pipe that arrowed in just behind us. Went right through one of those plastic folding tables, I think. I coulda s**t thru a screen door without hitting the wire.

Oof. I had repressed that memory! That one was nightmare fuel, that's for sure! Jean, Nevada.

I remember a two-stager that arced over and staged on the ground in Texas.

AIRFest 26 is still on the schedule as planned. Pre-Registration is percolating along nicely; about 50 (!) folks registered in the first 4 days.

A note on cancellations/refunds
KLOUDBusters has always had a very forgiving refund policy. If you pre-register and something comes up please tell us via e-mail before AIRFest starts on September 4, 2020. That is, don't just be a no-show.

If you cancel prior to the pre-registration cut-off (17-Aug-2020) you will get a full refund for flyer fees and t-shirts. If you cancel after that date, I will keep $5 for shipping, send your t-shirts, and refund the rest. This is because we order t-shirts the very next day and we are committed.

The important point is that you have to tell me about any change in plans before the launch starts.

If you think you might have something come up that will prevent coming, waiting until near end of the pre-registration period is cool (we don't mind).

I didnt mean anything negative. Its just with High Power, you have to be ready for anything. I remember an entire launch pad at Midwest Power take to the skies.......

Airfest can get interesting. A couple years back at the away pads a rocket careened north over the away RSO tent with rail in tow. High heart rate event, but what can you do; I just watched it pass overhead. Totally random event and no way to predict something like that.

I suspect the motor‘s underwhelming performance contributed to the failure as well.
Thrust to weight is required to be a minimum of 3:1, but in most instances should really be at least 5:1. Unfortunately, the thrust to weight rule isn’t enough; this rocket was stable on liftoff but didn’t have enough impulse to gain a safe altitude. Chuffing added to the problem. Simulations predicting end of rail velocity and Apogee are more useful.

Did not come up to pressure, good portion of propellant spent idle on the pad, ISP goes down the drain. My guess is that Roy designed it right, but S!!T happens. Could have been as simple as igniter dislodging and smoldering at aft of motor wasting fuel before finally pressurizing.

The Gizmo was funny, Daddy ugly was scary. I think it was at Airfest 21 when that rocket went “cruise Missle” back at the flight line, landing just North of the rocket pasture and starting a fire.

I hope that Pennsylvania does not make the list, as I am planning to travel to Utah in late September... Want to visit old friends, AeroTech, and go to the UROC launch
