These are surface models and not able to be 3d printed. Basically a very low polygon model with an image map to give it "detail". Trying to print one will look like a game rip model.

I did not know that. I have converted a bunch of surface models from simulation games into something that can be 3D printed but it is a pain -- I often just redesign using the surface version as a template but have also been learning how to modify the designs to make them sold in Blender (still very bad at that).
