TRF,

I'm in need of your help. I'm planning on making a 4" model of the AIM 54 Phoenix. I've found good scale drawings of the airframe which include both wing and fin dimensions, as well as diameter, OAL, etc. What is not specified are the strakes for the wings and would like to try and model these as well for the actual build. Does anyone have detailed drawings or accurate dimensions of the forward fin strakes they'd be willing to share?

Thanks in advance,

Coop, are you calling the fillet type thingys "strakes"?

If so these pictures may help.

The one fin is off in each of the two pics and you can see the base of the fin.

Actually you can see the inside of the base of the fin.

Hope this helps.

That's them, yes! I've made gross approximations of these with foam, but they don't look quite right. I think I have the thickness wrong, and it appears to have two tapers --one at the first couple of inches, then a more gradual one toward the back (the latter is what's giving me fits).

Best,
