Aerotech I170G

TMT has been working with Aerotech to clear up some confusion about the length of the unmodified delay element on the Aerotech I170G, a one-grain 54mm reload kit designed for the 54/426 hardware. We have found that the reload kits sold until the present time have been released with a 10 second unmodified delay element, instead of the labeled 14 seconds. This error includes all of the I170G kits with lot codes up to and including 051220-07. AT estimates that approximately 70 of these reload kits have been sold to dealers. They are working to inform all users and dealers about this problem, in the AT catalogue, and on their facebook page.
And, since all of the other 54/426 reloads have 14 second unmodified delay elements, all future I170G packages leaving the factory will contain 14 second delay elements. This will include all motors with the lot code 072220-07 and all lots with later manufacturing dates.
IF you have any I170G reload kits in your box, please check the lot codes and make sure you know the delay element timing for your specific kit.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the tube packaging., I guess they messed up the label when they switched over. I haven't bought any 54 mm reloads since they switched to tube packaging. I still have a bunch of 54 reloads in plastic bags.

It would have to be a pretty light rocket/ min diameter to make use of the 14 second delay with the relatively low impulse.

Sounds like there being shipped with 10 sec. And should be 14 sec. Delays

That's correct. the lot number specifies a lot that was cast on 05/12/20 and I'm not sure what the 07 means, maybe the 7th can of propellant mixed up that day? Anyway the 05122007 lot number signifies one that was labeled as 14s but was actually 10s.

So I have one with lot #07051704. Which should mean it was cast on July 5th 2017, correct? So, if I don't need more than 10 seconds of delay (which I won't), I just need to know that I'm drilling down from 10, not 14, correct? SO for my LOC Goblin, Thrustcurve says I need a 8 second delay. So I just take off 2 seconds, Bob's you uncle, and I'm ready to fly, amiright...

Correct, you only need to remove 2 seconds.
