What do you do with a ruined model?

  • Dump it

  • Try and loose it at a launch

I have enough parts to make "some" Sprint kits. Not a lot...like 3 or 4 or each.

I have the parts ready for 3 different sized;

A BT-20 size that flies on 13mm motors (and goes really really high too!)

A "standard" BT-50 size for 18mm motors like the original.

An upscale BT-56 version that just "SCREAMS" on 24mm motors.

I can get decals from Astronboy...if he ever shows up. What a mystery man he is.

I probably would be "most" interested in the BT-56 version with the BT-20 version second.

I have an original BT-50 one that I haven't got around to building yet.

Before anyone says anything.... yes, I've heard of E-Bay, and no, I'm not interested in selling it.

The bag was opened when I first got it but I didn't build it because I was all out of fresh dinosaur spit glue.

All three sizes will would come with a balsa tailcone, NOT the paper tailcone.

The balsa tailcone has a "slight" ogive shape not conical. It fiished better and is a more pleasing shape.

This is the BT-56 size.

Here is the BT-56 (24mm motor) size next to the BT-20 (13mm motor).

Maybe I did it wrong but my Rocsim for the BT-56 size Sprint on an Estes E9-8 gives me 2,341'.

Not too shabby!:D

I voted for the BT-56 version because I would like to have a 24mm altitude bird. :)

Jason

What altitude does it sim to on an Estes C11?

Not sure if I did it right but I think so.

I got 867' on a C11-5:confused:

That seems pretty darn high to me!

Can't find the 24mm F21 motor on my Rocsim but an RMS F24-7 takes it to 3,000'+

I just ran a sim on the BT-20 size with a 13mm motors

A3 gives it 749' and an A10 goes to 727'.

I've flown this one a LOT! And it scoots!

Bt-56 one for me please!

"Looking for where the line is forming"

BT-56 for me :D

How come the BT-56 and BT-20 versions have the decals reversed?

Was one set put on by the guy who did the Cox Saturn V? :p

Both are beautiful, by the way.

Nice! I would prefer a 13mm or 18mm model.....

Keep us informed of what you plan to do.

3 OR 4 EACH?!? Only 3 or 4?!? they'll be gone b-4 I get to read all the way through this thread!!
I like the 13mm - how do you suppose it'll do on a long burn Apogee 10mm B??

I will make them to order (3 or 4 days) when I run out.

I have 13mm kits ready now but no decals yet.

Rocsim gives me 1,514' on the B2-9 motor...if you can find one!

The Apogee C6-7 goes to 2,100'!

How come the BT-56 and BT-20 versions have the decals reversed?

Ahhhh...'cause the decals were reversed on the sheet:rolleyes: ?

I will make as many as requested.

Kinda funny... I had a Custom Rockets Fiesta kit just lying around, and a spare PNC-50C, and my trusty little razor saw... got a little bored... start slappng things together... instead of the trapezoidal fins, rounded em off to elliptical... when I'm just about done, suddenly it occurs to me... "Dang, that looks exactly like the ole Astron Sprint..."

:D :D :D :D

It does fly real nice. Gets up and zips. No altitude records, I'm sure, but it's a little mover.

I guess great minds do think alike!!! Or, form follows function, or some such like that... ;)

Prices????

13mm motor (BT-20 body) kit will be $12 with decals.

18 mm motor (BT-50 body this was the original size) will be $16 with decals.

24mm motor (BT-56 body) will be $26 with decals.

Give me a few more days yet to get everything together.

I'm still waiting to hear from Phred (Astronboy).

Hmmmm. What about a 13 or 18mm kit.......................without decals?
(I have a different paint scheme in my mind!)

I know you're only doing this in limited numbers so if they're going to include the decals, then I'd still be interested....

I'll take one of these if they are not all taken.........

a 4" is out of the question?
:D

what would a scale nosecone/tailcone run in 4" od?

A 4" Sprint nose cone would be just 12" long plus a shoulder and the tailcone would be just over 4" long.

It's doable.

Boy...you can sure tell it's payday from my email!!:D

Hang on guys...I'm still waiting to hear from Astronboy on the decals...maybe it's the ink in the Alps printers!

I have kits ready but no decals!

Maybe...just maybe if we are all sincere and wish really hard and everyone claps their hands at the same time Astronboy will hear us.:)

id be interested in the 24mm version or even a 29mm version without the decals

bachsta

I don't have a 29mm one...but I guess I could make one!

What size body would you like? Totally Tubular has a heavy duty tube that is 1.88" O.D. or a 38mm motor mount tube (1.635" O.D.).

Both of those tubes are twice as thick as the Estes tube (better).

email me [email protected].

Sandman I would be interested in possibly the components for all different sizes including everything from micro(nice job on yours meister) to rather large. This would include only the nose cones and boat tails.BTW I really appreciate the three BT-50 tails you made for me.Don't anyone think he's kiddin' when he says they're thin and hard to make because he's not. However, the three I got where beautiful and very well done. Also, very well done was the BT-80 Red Max nose cone that you did for me.Very nice!Haven't had a chance to order the tube and stuff that I need yet but soon I will.
I have, however, started on one of the Sprints.I know I said here before that I was gonna wait `till I didn't have anything else going on but I just wanted to dig in so badly.Well dig I did. This one will be my first ever Sprint so I'm not gonna get fancy at all.The fins are getting the simple "sport" option. This means just a simple rounding of the fins. After this one I will just try to make each one a bit better until I finally get it "perfected".After that I can then work on different sizes.I'll have pics of this as well as my entire fleet before Halloween weekend. That is the Battlepark launch and it'll be a good goal for getting everything done.Only the Upscale Max won't be done by then.Thanx again!

OK...bachsta has got me thinking...&%&^%% trouble maker!

I think I will make a 29mm version for the Apogee F10 if and when it ever comes back.

Do you guys think an Estes BT-60 will hold up to an F10...or even an Econojet motor like an F20?

No fiberglass!! making a high performance rocket...not a brick!

For a Micro Maxx version how about an Apogee 10.5mm tube?

That should be about right.

BTW I still haven't heard from Astronboy...you guys are not clapping!!

I have no more kits ready with decals!
