I saw these in a couple threads. One in particular showed someone bending these in a vice to conform to a body tube (I can't find that thread for the life of me now).

You can get them at McMaster-Carr: https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/126/3411/ (Steel Adhesive-Mount Nuts)

I got some and look forward to trying them. However, when I received them from McMaster, I realized they actually are manufactured by another company:

They have so many different kind of backing nuts, t-nuts and bonding fasteners it's really incredible. Way more than McMaster seems to carry. If you look at the products on their websites, they have 3D data sheets, diagrams, CAD drawings, etc.

Problem is, it doesn't look like there is any way to order stuff from their website. The website itself hasn't been updated since 2014. Google search seems to indicate they are a functional business, but maybe they are direct to OEMs/manufacturers only. If nothing else, their website catalog may serve as a starting point to go search for something they have and see if someone sells it.
