There I was in a cooking supply store buying a pizza stone and had a flash of genius.

I bought a small silicone baking sheet and have tried mixing epoxy on it. Nice clean surface, and is extremely flexible.

Just start rolling it up and most any adhesive will crack right off!

So far:

Gorilla glue

6, 12, 30, 45 min epoxies. with and without glass filler.

JB weld

CA

Elmers

Yellow glue

Library paste

all come right off.

A great $13 investment.

I wonder if you can find one at Big Lots or a dollar store?

West System sells roller pans that can 'pop out' epoxy when cured. I believe it's product number 802.

I use margerine tubs - free and the epoxy pops out with a twist.

I've got a huge box of those little "solo" brand cups from Costco. Great for mixing small batches, and I don't bother popping anything out, since they are disposable anyway.

Al,
How big is the sheet? I am always looking for a good way to protect the work surface, but I tend to spread things out a bit.

I have used various forms of free bowls, cups etc and that's fine for larger batches. When I mix a small batch I prefer a flat surface. I guess a top form a free plastic container would work and the wife wouldn't miss one. Still will keep an eye out for a baking sheet.

Baking bread is my other big hobby, and I've often considered using a Silpat kneading mat for stuff like this. Sounds like what you found is similar, Al. Except Silpats are expensive. You can't cut on them without messing them up either. 16-1/2" X 24-1/2" runs $36.95 at King Arthur [1-800-827-6836]. They also have silicone muffin pans that could be used for multiple adhesives before needing cleaning up / popping out. Kind of pricy when the disposable stuff (little plastic mixing cups, paper plates, waxed paper, etc.) are so cheap though.

At $13 though, I'd jump on it. Twice. Once for the kitchen and once for the rockets.

I use the lid of a margarine tub, even easier to remove the unused edhesive, you just bend the lid!
