Chucked the rocket into the wood lathe to file the chamfer on the C-55 coupler at the nose cone junction.
I think it'll give it unique look. Kind of like the swaged end of the casing where it meets the bullet.

1st day of the year above 60 degrees... Primered the body tube repair.
A good paint job shows you have real confidence in your OddRoc's first flight.

I liked the swaged "Hey, ya know, that looks like a shell for a high powered rifle" look, so I painted the nose cone hammered copper.
Once the primer cures and I paint the rocket brass again.. this should be a good look.

Breaking my own re-coat rule of "wait at least 3 times what the manufacturer states" I painted the repairs today.
The Krylon Super Maxx paint I'm using is over 10 years old. I originally used this to paint the interior of a 1965 Chevy C-10 pickup. Surprisingly it's very similar to the OEM color. I'm really impressed with how this paint shoots.

Cool... braking motors for the sled...
The image of HYPERION on the sled shows a forward-facing rocket nozzle. I assume the sled was "braked", after HYPERION assumed a vertical path, and remained attached to the rail.

Nose Ballast
Machined the ballast parts and glued them into the nose cone.
This bird is ready for a verification launch in the std. vertical orientation.
