Longerons - well, not really scale but a bit better than the "stock" version.

I got some rectangular styrene and cut it at and angle. Masked and painted

    And the first one attached

That looks fantastic. Are all those details part of the kit, or are you adding some of your own stuff? Sorry if you described that already and I missed it.

This was not a kit. I purchased the Accur8 vinyl skins and Shapeways nozzles, Interstage, and capsule.
The Accyr8 skins include directions and covers for the tunnels.
The structure and parts for the engines I sort of made up from looking at pix - these were not meant to be scale but to give the impression of the real details
The longeron idea I got from an article in Sport Rocketry from last year

I've been trying to match the color of the vinyl wrap to paint the interstage - it has been a struggle.
I decided to add the last of the tunnels. I also painted the stuffer tube so it won't be obvious looking through the openings of the interstage (look at the third picture and you can't see the tube).

Dry fitted, but what it should look like when I'm done

Oh, and another gratuitous picture. I started it before this thread but had put it aside for these. While waiting for the color match test cases to dry, I finally applied the decals
Mad Cow Jayhawk. Nice kit - and Black Friday sales are approaching....

OK - trying to paint the interstage to match the vinyl has been kicking my butt. The issue is the vinyl changes color based on the light source and angle, but the paint doesn't. Based on the light source issue, I want to check it in natural light. But the other problem is it is always dark now when I get home from work.

John is sending me some new vinyl to try. It was supposed to arrive today but didn't (meanwhile, another package I ordered from a holiday sale was scheduled to arrive tomorrow, but it showed up today.) Hopefully I will not mess up the second vinyl like I did the first.

Meanwhile, I decided to install the launch lug. With the dual motor I went with 3/16". I painted it black and decided to install it between a tunnel and longeron. I stripped a length of vinyl, scrapped the paint from the lug, and then used some black epoxy to secure it.

    UNCLE!

I kept trying to match with paint the vinyl color. My biggest issue is the vinyl changes color based on the lighting source. I decided I would try to match it with natural light.
Well, it's dark now when I get home from work so I was limited to checking colors on the weekends.

John at Accur8 suggested I don't try to get a perfect match. There are multiple hues and colors in the vinyl wrap so having another will "fit in".
He did send me more vinyl - except the replacement color was no where close to the original vinyl. sigh...

So I am going with my last color mix. I also had to paint the top of the tunnels and the small supports on the interstage.

I painted the one centering ring black to hide it. Cleared some of the paint to glue it on. Added the second ring.

    IMG_4220.jpg IMG_4221.jpg IMG_4222.jpg

And glued it all together. I decided to use epoxy to avoid any issues with grab, plus wood glue won't work on the interstage....

I still need to attach the shock cord and add nose weight - otherwise this is done and will be waiting for the spring to launch.

    Thanks for watching!
