have you tested it with weights simulating the drouge pulling on it?

if there too much friction for the servo to pull it, you can try a 3 ring

I have this release mechanism, was going to try using it for my L3 but decided to stick to proven BP charges.

Also, check out the release mechanism on this one, personally think this is probably the best method, geared motor and the bearings to aid release
