Hello!
I'm currently under the phase of designing and building a 54mm MD rocket I say this because I have most of the parts but I am still optimizing most areas. First you should know that I'm using an ACME fin can that I will mod to a more aerodynamic shape. Secondly you should know that this rocket is buillt to fly a 4 grain Pro54 motor max this is because 5+Grains are out of my price range but I do plan to fly 5+ grains in the future. Thirdly the rocket air frame is is 100% fiber glass (Proline 54mm from the rocketry warehouse). Sorry no pictures yet I can't start building until the 19th of December due to me being in another city but I will post more as soon as I can. I was too exited and i was so exited to post about this a little early.
Here is some other information:
Motor Retention: Aerotech MD retainer (bolded not glued into air frame)
Motor: Cesseroni pro 54mm 4 grain with tapered rear closure
Fins: Modded ACME fin can
Recovery: 24 inch parachute, ten feet of Kevlar split in 2, drogue less DD main at 1200 feet
Electronics: Adept 22 (unsure tracker)
Length: 123 cm
Weight (dry): 1435 grams
OR file:View attachment 54mm Md rocket TRF.ork
Speed: Mach 1.66 (OR)
Altitude: 12,081 feet (OR)
Stability: 2.0-1.75 cal through out flight (OR)
Questions:
1. How can I improve the rocket?
2. Have you ever trimmed/modded a ACME fin can?
3. Optimization
Anders
