Greetings all...I am always fascinated with paper models in how the modeler is able to turn a 3 dimensional object and render it into 2d. Simple ask - is there an online tool where I can input my variables for a 3d hemisphere (half a sphere) and it spits out "orange slices" so that I can print it out on paper and assemble it as a rounded nosecone?

Here is an example tool for making transitions: http://www.delorie.com/rockets/transitions.html (I'm hoping for something similar, but for making hemispheres.)

Thank you....

I believe you are looking for a hemispherical gore calculator...quick google search found this https://www.ict.griffith.edu.au/anthony/kites/parafauna/chute_design/ there are others out there, also there are manual ways to lay it out...
Yes, thank you for that link/reference. I didn't know what the technical term was for what I was looking to accomplish. I had also come across a research paper that went into this far more in depth. I am actually looking to fiberglass a round foam core and wanted to transfer the paper pattern to the fiberglass cloth so there is minimal overlap on seams when I begin the layup of fiber over the foam core. I was unable to find a simple online tool where the calculations are performed on the back end, but on the front end a few dimensions are entered and "presto" a printable PDF or pattern is ready. :) There are many ways to do things manually. The finished product, however, is subject to the skill of the craftsman. :) Using your reference I'll see if I can do something on paper first. Many thanks.
