It would be nice to have a reasonable priced pad and gantry to display the Estes Saturn V. I have had things made by Shapeways and it can be expensive but you get a better quality finish. My Titan display engines for my 2.6" Titan were about 40.00 with shipping.

How do I get one?
Well, you have to print it yourself or pay someone else a lot to print it. The 3D printer files required to print it are in a zip file at that thingiverse link. For some of the parts he used an Makerbot Replicator Z18 (the tall black printer in the background of the photo above), a $6,500 printer, I assume because some parts were big enough to require it.

Overall, that Saturn V and gantry is a LOT of 3D printing to do. From the thingiverse page: "The design and drawing of this model took over 1200 hours and an estimated 2000 hours to print." He doesn't mention it anywhere that I see, but I wonder if he did this as a paid job for a museum or something.

Well, I've decided to give this a go...

I'm only going to print the rocket but even that is 4.3kg of filament.

For those interested I will primarily be using a Zortrax M200.

Lunar module adapter mostly complete, needs a small ring on the bottom still but the door mechanism works and I wanted to show off. There are small hinges on the bottom of the panels that can move up and down as well to allows them to be opened or closed
