That does look cool! The plastic parts look terrific! I have Matt Johnson's Alteira model. It is about 1/122 scale or about 34". Mine is built to fly on six D12's. Matt does have an option to commit to building the model to fly on only one motor.

The only thing better than one N-1... is two N-1's. I already have the Altaira model in my build pile but I couldn't resist a 1/100 scale. I hope I was one of the first 20 since I would have liked to have the stand and the display tower and they were all sold out.

Another nice thing about the 1/100 scale is that Estes has a Saturn V at the same scale. I made a Saturn V at the 1/122 scale it was expensive and took time.

The Altaira model is a challenge. My build thread is listed below. There are advantages and disadvantage. I think the Altaira N-1 is cheaper, but I think the new kit has parts that look better. I like launching with six D12's using e-matches. It does look cool. I have had 2 launches with all 6 motors firing both times. On the other hand I can understand the other option of just one motor for less worry and simplicity.

I bought this kit because it was HIGHLY recommended by a friend who runs a very well respected mid-power model rocket company.
Then yesterday I did an unboxing of the kit with a good friend who is a true expert on scale model rocketry.
We were both HIGHLY impressed with this kit.

Heartily recommended. (and I don't know the gentleman who produced the kit)

I also have one of Matt Johnson's Altaira Rocketry kits. I would not call it a "more accurate" scale model, but larger and far more labor intensive.

Can a Estes Saturn V Skylab be modified to a Saturn V?

The easiest way to do it would probably be to take the top of a Saturn 1B and put it on top of the Saturn V Skylab. You might be on your own for the third stage wrap though. I'm not sure the one that comes with the Skylab is the same as for an Apollo, since it was the third stage itself that was converted into Skylab.

You would also need a piece of BT-58 for the Apollo Service Module.
