Depending on the number of entries and the number of prizes, I like the idea of using categories. But then contestants would have to declare the category for the entry since some might cross boundaries. And I suppose the voters would get one vote in each category (?). I like the different categories for HPR, MPR, and LPR.

For prizes, I would let winner #1 have first pick of the items (or only give 3 items, save the others for later contests / give-aways) then let winner #2 pick from the remaining two or more, and the third gets to either pick 3rd or get the last gift. The idea being that while you may be entered in as 'HPR' you might want the Estes plastic 12" chute for some reason..

Are we allowed to enter more than once? one entry per person per contest?

I am ok with more than one entry but you can only win once per context (If you enter 3 items, you cannot sweep all the prizes). I am ok with reentry of the the other non-winning items the next context.

    Hello,

I've already create a Redstone IRBM nose cone for a kit bash of the Estes Mercury-Redstone and a 4" version for the LOC airframe tubing. I'm also creating a 1/6.65 scale of the Sprint. Got the lower stage completed. Working on the upper stage now.

If you want the STL files, PM me.

If I can get the Sprint stable with scale fins, I'll present a kit for a prize. Should have it done by the end of the year.

My first 3D printer just arrived, but I'm traveling, so I can't begin the build until this weekend...looking forward to seeing people's designs! I'm a frank noob, so need to learn the software too...probably won't be entering this round, but a great idea, Chuck.

    Ok,

I am going to extend this. I meant to send a reminder but forgot due to the distraction of my own printer. You have till Midnight 14 October to get your posts on the forum.

    1. Start a thread and show your product in action: photo or video. The thread must be in the contest forum.
    2. Post the 3D file of choice on the same thread.
    3. Post a link to your thread on this thread.

On 15 October, I will post a poll for you to vote for a winner.

There are photos of it in action and the product itself. All of the files are linked multiple times.

Feel free to check out my entry and good luck to everyone who has entered!

Looks like you have a similar idea to me, but yours is more "simplistic" and more modular. I like the idea and I can definitely see where you are headed with it. Maybe we can collaborate and improve on our rockets.

Funny thing is, the reason why I came back to TRF after a few month without logging in is because i was brainstorming ideas for my new and improved design and searched "3d printed rocket" and your was the first to show up. I was actually going to ask you if you minded me using your retainer on my design, I like it better than the screw on one that I currently use. If I ever put the new on on Thiniverse I would of course provide a link as credit. BTW your design looks great!

You're more than welcome to use it, that's why I released it on Thingiverse. I designed so that there is an incline in the locking ring, so as you turn it, it tightens up and locks. I've launched it 3 times and it has held up really well. The cap has hardly even melted on the bottom and the motor fits with no play in it.

Looking forward to seeing your new design, keep me updated!

Seems like it, not sure when the voting is going to start or if it will be moved.

I will set up the voting in the next two days. I need a few hours at home to set up the thread. Might do it as early as tomorrow.
