Military flare chute with new shroud lines, bridle and 1000lb swivel. Chute has been dyed red prior to new lines being sewn into place, so there's no dye on the lines.

This has a reefer line. Same chute Aerocon Systems sells, but everything has been upgraded.

The chutes use to be used for flares when they would shoot them in the air. Apparently companies like AEROCON purchases large qualities of these chutes and sell them fairly cheap$15, but the problem you have is after awhile the shroud lines end up breaking because they are pretty fray when you buy them due to the "de-milling" process. Also they don't have an attachment point. I took one and had new shroud lines sewn on along with a 1000lb swivel so you can connect it to a quick link. Also gathered the new lines to form a bridle using heat shrink. The estimated CD on one of these is around 1.5. Basically it's as good as a new chute.

So not a dumb question. You would also pack it like any other chute with a Nomex blanket or some dog barf.
