I have the greatest respect for the USCG, particularly the search and rescue folks. Not many other people are leaving the harbor/airport when it's blowing 50+.
Side story: I had a job a while back working with some shoreside USCG people in Dutch Harbor just before the fall crab season opened up. We happened to be in the hotel lobby when the SAR helicopter crew arrived (the USCG pre-stages there for the fishing season). The shoreside guy I was with leaned over and said, "Those guys aren't buying any drinks tonight."
