The Erik Gates Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Erik Gates, an enthusiastic and dedicated rocketeer. Erik was a member of the Tripoli Rocketry Association's Board of Directors at the time of his untimely death by accident. He will be missed.

On behalf of the Scholarship Committee of the Tripoli Rocketry Association, I am very pleased to announce that this year there are TWO winners, each of whom has received $2500. They are:

Nathaniel Chiles, who is certified Level 1 in Tripoli. He has completed his sophomore year at University of Cincinnati, majoring in Aerospace Engineering and minoring in Mathematics. Nathan plans to earn his M.S. in Aerospace Engineering following graduation. His career goal is to help design and build spacecraft. He is a member of the university CubeCats and Chief Engineer for their cubesat project, LEOPARDSat-1.

Jamie Weiss, who is certified Level 3 in Tripoli. Jamie will be a senior this fall at University of Colorado, Denver, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and minoring in both Mathematics and Physics. Jamie plans to work in the aerospace industry, designing components for rockets or satellites. Jamie is a member and officer of the Society of Physics Students, the Denver Area Rocketry Team, and MACH Rocketry, which plans to launch a large rocket for a senior design project.

Best Regards,
Terry McCreary
