12" Diameter "Goony" Mosquito

Hey Guy's,

Anyone tried a Goony upscale Mosquito?

I'm thinking of building a 12" diameter upscale Estes Mosquito "Goony" for LDRS this year. Something fun, easy Estes rocket to relate to with classic colors. I already have a 12" diameter nosecone and matching tube.



Here's a concept pic, the fin's obviously aren't to scale thickness but the idea is there.


Any thought's?

That would be a fantastic build. Do you have a sim file? I would love to try to 3d Print some parts and test them out.

No, standard deploy leaves lots of room for things. Same set up as my upscale Bullet Bobby 4.6 only this is an upscale Mosquito 22.2.

Once again, same build as Bullet Bobby 4.6 except for the fins which I still have to add to the file.

These are low and loud flyers.

I fabricate by layering fiberglass over whatever shape I'm looking for. Same as in this build:

After you layer the fiberglass over the foam shape, do you remove the foam? If so, how do you do it?

For this nosecone the styrofoam form was only 1/2" thick so I left it and painted it on the inside with West Coast Epoxy.

I guess you could use acetone to melt and remove it if you wanted to.
