A bigger version was the Corn-E. It's sloped "nose cone" meant that it tended to arc. This problem was relieved by canting the fins to induce spin. That worked well.
It was a particularly popular rocket at the Kornfield Klassic held by Medina Valley High School.

I started a flying corn cob build on my blog today at:

I can't take design credit for this one, all the kudos go to First flight Hobbies. Their Corn Roc kits haven't been in production for a bit.
Check the craft stores for a foam corn cob and build along.
I got this corn cob on clearance for $1.00!
