Back in the late 60's I mail ordered my first K-33 Trident-III directly from Estes for about 4 bucks. Waited the 3 or 4 weeks for delivery on pins and needles.. This model is gonna be COOL! Long story short the post office somehow managed to mangle the package badly crimping the BT-5's and loosing several of the parts. Heart broken I never got around to building a Trident-III until the Trident-II was introduced in 1990. Liked it so much, when Micro Maxx came about I just had to downscle a real Micro Trident-III to fly and work just like the full size model.
Matters not the size or Scale the Trident-III is one of those Classic designs that just has to be added to the fleet.

I'm guessing you've added the "III" to distinguish it from the later Trident II but for those who may not know:
there was no actual Trident III, the "Tri" in Trident alluded to the three pod design of the model.
The later version, only used two pods.
I suppose Estes felt calling it the Trident II (where the "II" referred actually to the use of two pods instead of three) was better than calling it the "Dident".:D

Some of us refer to it as the Bident. Either way - I'm a purist - still have my original Trident I built back in '74 and plan to buy and build at least one more when Estes re-releases them. :D

My approx. 3X Upscale Trident. Has flown three times on I211's and has had landing issues twice from very minor to pretty significant. I think it's a weight issue and not being able to get a large enough parachute in a three inch tube. Still rethinking the recovery method.
