Dr. Zooch SLS- beta build thread...

Go job, I like it!!! If there is a plan to put four SRB"s on the real one, I bet a model with four SRB's would fly without fins, especialy if the rocket where lengthened a little. I've done it lots of times.

    October sky

I would say that the rockets they made in Coalwood where actual real rockets rather than just a motor in the bottom of a paper tube. They where more like motors with fins and a nocecone. I have an old newspaper article from about that time showing a couple of local guys out on a frozen lake...

    October sky

I watched October sky the other night and the special features. The comentary by Homer Hickam said they used Zinc/Sulfer propellant and alcohol as a binder. The film footage of the original launches showes them to burn for quite a while, zinc/sulfer also known as micro grain, burns very fast. I...

Got thr BAR V2 out yesterday

The Estes 2.6" dia V-2 I built 30 years ago still has life in it, as long as there is a motor to put in it. It is the one that turned me into a BAR. On the first flight the chute got wrapped up in the lines and had a hard landing and cracked two fins. I flew it two more times anyway, it's fixable.

New retro rocket flight and crash.

Well, I took it out last evening and got three real good flights out of it, flies like a champ. Also took my Estes V-2, the one thats 2.6" dia. and burned up three C6 motors in it. That rocket is about 30 years old and responsible for making me a BAR.

New retro rocket flight and crash.

It flew well but the delay was too long and became a lawn dart. The transition shroud was the only thing damaged, it was repaired the next day and is ready to go again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bRFmGhjH4U&feature=youtu.be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bRFmGhjH4U&feature=youtu.be

    Other retro rocket.

Thank you. The tower is made from wood dowels, Masonite and hardware cloth and various other pieces of wood and wire. If the weather is good tomorrow I plan to fly it. Interesting note, as I sit here in the local airport terminal, there is a nice big old DC-3 Goony bird sitting outside the...

    Retro Rocket...I think

There must be some kind of cosmic timing thing going on here, I just finnished a very similar scratch built model on the same lines, and same idea of an early 60,s retro look. That is so wierd. I know, right? Pictures to be posted soon.

    Man conquers space movie

Anybody know what if anything is going on with it? I know it is a shoestring budget film and the guy has other professional commitments, I just hope he does'nt lose interest and give up.
