There is no way that this rocket is successful, but darn it I am going to try! (Mach 5+ Composite Case 38mm rocket)

This is completely pointless advice unless you explain what this "physical wall" actually is and how to avoid it if possible.

I've had good experience with the G138 in clusters, they both light immediately, at exactly the same time.

Any chance of a 54/1706 New Blue Thunder? It's my favorite propellant (beautiful flame, incredible performance) and I think it could kick some butt in that case.

I just noticed the G71R for the 29/40-120 is out of production. Is that coming back? Maybe something more G138-style?

The schematic is on their website: https://www.aerotech-rocketry.com/customersite/resource_library/aerotech_rms_assy_dwgs/38mm_hp_rms/38-480/38-480_i59wn-p_assy.pdf The closure needs that protruding surface presumably to support the front of the propellant grain because of the hole in the...

Seconding this request. I'm working on a group project that ideally involves a cluster of at least 8 I49's or I59's, and it would be nice to not have to buy a ton of endburn-only closures.

Data file sets by manufacturer now available again

John, speaking of sets "synthesized by putting individual files together"... is the categorization of motors done programmatically? Because there's one K motor (out of production Gorilla K695BT) that's somehow lumped in with the L motors.

If you don't want the delay to burn as long, then just drill it out to 8 seconds or so. The 14 second delay is pretty long, after all.

    Cocktail propellant

It's not about raising Kn; that's a property of the whole motor. It's just making sure that the red and blue grains burn out more or less simultaneously, by having a thicker web on the faster blue propellant.

    Strongest epoxies

Viscosity and tendency to wick into wood are not necessarily related. I've had remarkable quantities of Aeropoxy ES6209 vanish into the edges of plywood, despite it being thick enough to stay where you put it.

Sub Minimum Diameter L-2050 Build Thread

The issues we had on Bare Necessities indeed were with the old version of RASAero. I believe I've also mentioned this to Neutron95, but perhaps I should have emphasized it more. That said, I haven't checked Bare Necessities's geometry in v2 to compare.

Any chance of more G138-like motors in the 29/40-120 case? I really enjoy that motor.

    Area Rule: My Next Big'un

It's been a very long while, but I've gotten drawn back into the hobby. Taking it slow, but I do still have plans to build this... I'm going to ditch the clustering, and I'm ditching the parachute cannon in favor of a deployment bag and perhaps a 3-ring release actuated with Archetype (Prairie...

Q:high impulse motors-short burn. As compared to moderate impulse-long burn

Aero forces on the fins, shock cord loads, and landing forces tend to be significantly greater than the forces applied by motors themselves. Build the rocket to handle the speed, and it'll handle the force. High acceleration (>50 g) is another story, and you have to start taking care to secure...

Wire EDM will probably be your friend on that interstage coupler.

    CTI K660 Total Destruction

I have never seen the front of a CTI case fail. The plastic, yes, but never the flange. Interesting.

    Metal Lathes

I know that feeling; I have a lathe, and now I must find a mill. But I must find the space for the mill; the lathe takes up all the extra space I had.

    Showing coning in simulations

OpenRocket has predicted coning in a rocket that coned in real life but it was hard to notice in the plots; it only showed a lower than expected altitude.

The Mach Ness Monster, A 76mm Minimum Diameter Build

What wins out: the greater mass fraction and total impulse and burn duration of the CTI, or the lower total mass of the Loki? I'd bet on the CTI in this situation...

"Contents Under Pressure" - Static Test Cato

Why two on the back and only one on the front? Does the temperature difference matter more than the pressure difference?
