    Newton's 3rd Rocketry - Lil' Johnny Streamer

I just pulled mine out of storage. The streamer is white ripstop nylon. 4" wide and 14' ( not a typo) long. That includes the triangular section at the base with the grommet.

Stuck landings with rocket standing upright

In Soviet Union we "stick landing" the hard way! ( Yes, it landed standing on its head and not drilled in to the asphalt.)

How dangerous is a freefalling rocket?

I do, I was the range manager for that LDRS. I was more concerned when the field owner went out a lit a pile of hay on fire near the runway ( closer to the historic aircraft hanger than our pads) to see how fast we'd respond, then he yelled at us for putting it out.

Site with ceiling of 30,000 ft Near Me

The bigger problem is air traffic route density this side of the Mississippi. That and plain old population causing the lack of any sizeable fields that could support that waiver.

Marco Polo Tracker - Great Bang for the Buck

If you use all thread that can be a bad idea. The all thread can act as a directional antenna and reduce device communication range at certain relative angles.

Marco Polo Tracker - Great Bang for the Buck

I have to ask, advanced or light weight version? Also, what is your preferred mounting method(s)? Thanks!

    Estes #1969 Saturn V: A cautionary tale

Robert DeHate at AMW had a run of D11-Ps awhile ago. You might check there.

Mega Rebel from Arkansas [Rocketarium] - Phase 1

That technique doesn't work so well for rockets of this shape. The Estes Tech Report was written years ago and is a bit simplistic in its assumptions for anything that doesn't look like a typical Estes kit. It especially doesn't take rockets of this profile in to account. Open Rocket or RockSim...

    TARC frustration: advice needed

Interesting video, but there's some issues. The method of attachment ( anchor points) would be good for a light payload but nothing like what you're doing. There are a couple of problems with this method. The biggest one is that Kevlar will cut through paper and cardboard when a sudden force...

Mega Rebel from Arkansas [Rocketarium] - Phase 1

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but if you add a skin (Monokote) to this design, then all bets are off as to where the CP will be. There's a lot of induced drag being created by having those centering rings open to the air in flight. Covering them will change the CP location. Where...

What did you do rocket wise today?

I got up the nerve to start rebuilding my spudnik. It's a rocket I made from a Mr. Potato Head on a dare from an engineering student in his Junior year who stated it couldn't be done. The rocket is over 20 years old and needed the shock cord stripped and surgery to open the body shell to fix...

ROCKET TRAIN - Sneak peak of my up and coming model rocket train. (30 sec clip)

IDK- Back in the 70's I attached a "Mighty D13" to an old fashioned metal skate ( Much heavier than the gizmo in this thread.) The motor had a 20 degree or so downward cant ( The only way it would fit underneath) and when that sucker lit, it did a loop (About a five foot diameter loop) and shot...

    lightnin kit

One of my first two-stage rockets. Have fun with it . It's a great kit and flies well one or two stages.

    3x Orbital Transport upscale

A clothes iron set at "cotton" heat with a bit of pressure applied can straighten those wraps and do so permanently. I did this with some Exocet forward fins that were made out of 1/4" ply. Takes a while and you'll need to do the counter warp twisting with your hands (oven gloves help) but it...

    LOC Goblin

Very similar to the original Doorknob plan I sent Barry. The original had a 98mm motor mount tube with 54mm and 38mm adapters. ( I didn't make a 75 mm adapter ) The only difference is that the adapters I made screwed in to the permanent base plate using a set of bolts and tee-nuts a 90 degree...

    2018 National Sport Launch (NSL)

I still have rockets I built in the 90's before the big rail switch. Guess I'll update them. No worries. Still scathing my head over the 1/4" rod thing. I know the layout having been pad manager for a number of NYPowers and the "Range Boss" for LDRS ( as a matter of fact I did all the pad...

    3/4 Mercury Redstone

I'm assuming you might also want to try it with a sample of the propellant you're trying to light to see if the temp or pressure combination is adequate to actually light the stuff. But I'm just guessing here...

    Question for LOC Stovi owners

Hi ya, Nope, haven't tried C11s. I bought a stash of D11s when AMW had them for sale as a special order run from Estes.

    Question for LOC Stovi owners

I fly mine with a D-12-5 in the middle and 6 x D11Ps - I add a little bit of black powder to the d12-5's ejection charge by adding a little less than gram of BP to the top of the casing well and masking taping over it. All the flights I've done this way required no additional nose weight and...
