    More Greenland Ice For Melting

I think this thread nicely illustrates the problem of politics getting entangled with science. I don't know the science well, but like most people I am drawn to agree with the people with whom I agree on other topics. I will freely admit to thinking "well, if that hypocritical windbag is on the...

    Space-Themed Crossword in NYT today

For all of you space program mavens who also happen to be crossword fans, today's (4/23/14) New York Times crossword has a NASA-related theme. I can't find a link to it that isn't behind a paywall, so you may have to locate an actual newspaper if you aren't already a subscriber. There might be...

ANOTHER MEDICAL MYTH BITES THE DUST

Also, Kosher Coke tastes better and has smoother foam. It's available around Passover, and every year I buy a bunch of 2-liter bottles. It has sucrose instead of HFCS. I don't think it's healthier, but it tastes better to me.

    Wildman Darkstar Junior Build

At LDRS in New York last year, I saw one with a Space your Face decal, which was fitting. I think that would look cool on the sustainer along with some psychedelic patterns on the booster and fins. I have a pretty plain DS jr, but I got my son a DS mini in the sale, so maybe we'll try some tie...

    Funny commercial on the moon

Hey, it's rocketry-related enough to fit the Watering Hole! And I have observed that several members around here share my 6th-grade sense of humor, so this is for you: https://youtu.be/9WoM2bHfr48

    Wildman Black Saturday 2013

FYI, I heard from Jackie today that they are waiting on CTI hardware, not (just) propellant, so if you took advantage of the CTI case deals, your order may be waiting for them. Get in touch with Mr. or Mrs. Wildman if you need to know. Sully

    Wildman Black Saturday 2013

I snagged a Gizmo in the sale: got it to give to my wife to give to the kids to give to me for Christmas. What do you have in mind for the graphics?

Measuring Black Powder: Need Some Advice

I use one of these: (available from Amazon) This stores plenty of BP for dozens of flights, and has a built-in measurer that measures in grains. I calculate, weigh out and ground test using a cheap digital scale like this: (also available at Amazon) BTW, these aren't...

    Mach 6 Project

If the people who may sponsor you are not rocketry people, you should probably emphasize the challenges and realistically the very low odds of success of reaching this goal as an amateur. Some successes that are more attainable than M6 might be testing novel heat- and force-management techniques...

    Wildman's Black Saturday Sale

I'm hoping that when the sale starts, there will be a new thread: makes it simpler to keep track of things. It would be too easy for me to be scrutinizing last years' deals by accident.

Philosophical question - pretty strange one too

If the faucet drips in the bathroom with no one there to hear it, does it still turn the water meter? I would stay the heck out of that room and leave the faucet in a state of quantum uncertainty.

    Mach 6 Project

That's true, and there's been enough info provided here to help the OP figure out what a reasonable interim goal might be, if he does want to do M6. It'll be up to him to figure out what he wants to do and what is reasonable to try. My point is just that the attitude in someof the responses is...

    Mach 6 Project

This is a pretty tough crowd for a hobby site. I happen to know Jason a little bit from local launches, and he is a decent guy, serious and knowledgeable about rockets. He is not trolling here. Is he in over his head with a Mach 6 project? Yes, which I think is why he was looking for some help...

Strongest glue/epoxy for adhering ply fins to a paper tube

I used the 38mm bell retainer on a 4" LOC V2. It looks killer, but it does add significant weight at the wrong end of the rocket, so I added some extra nose weight. The benefit of the bell retainer is all cosmetic, which is OK with me since I don't mind a little altitude reduction on my single...

    Cool new political party.

Luckily we always climb out of the hole at the bottom of the fiscal cliff. Kind of like how we just reinflate ourselves after we are flattened by the fiscal anvil. I do think I have an answer to all our problems, though. Wait just a second.... "Shazam!"

    Cool new political party.

I'm from the Banana Splits, and I'm afraid if we can't agree on how to divvy up Saturday morning, we're headed for a shutdown.
