    Water Slide Decals

One thing to keep in mind with home (inkjet) printed decals is that if you're using a clear decal paper, your colors will not be as vibrant as you think. The inkjet inks are made to be printed on a white substrate (paper) and are somewhat translucent. To get around this, you can use a white...

Looking For Info On CNC Wood Lathes / Conversions.

Recently I've been seeking solutions that would allow a small, limited production run of kits to be produced and am trying to keep costs down (who isn't?). The biggest expense seems to be nosecones, and unless I turn them myself, I'm limited to what's available currently. To that end, I've toyed...

    Club Membership Management Software Recommendations?

If any of you are club administrators, do you use software to manage your membership? Right now, we're doing it the old-fashioned way on paper, which is then entered into whatever spreadsheets etc we can find to fit our needs. I've been toying around with the idea of trying to get a club member...

    Semroc MMX build: some observations

Even with kevlar, I still use a little bit of wadding. Kevlar may be flame resistant, but plastic streamer material isn't. :)

    Semroc MMX build: some observations

LOL thanks Phil. I was actually thinking of another, older MMX kit I have that has you do the shock cord that way.

    Semroc MMX build: some observations

Then I guess my illustration wouldn't be too useful then. :):):)

    Estes Nike-X

I generally don't sand the surface of my papered fins at all. At most, I'll smooth out the surface with some 400-grit after priming but only very lightly if at all. I use CA on the edges as well, but I use self-adhesive Avery full-sheet labels so I don't need spray adhesive or CA soaking. If...

    Semroc MMX build: some observations

Does this illustration help at all with the shock cord mounting technique? It does seem to be a bit tricky to comprehend without an illustration... You basically tie one end around the forward centering ring, glue it on the MMT and then install the whole thing in the body tube. The kevlar is...

    Micro-Sol and Micro-Set with home-printed decals

I second Micromeister's 'comments about the Krylon UV clears. I too have used them for clear coating for a LONG time and have seen absolutely zero yellowing effects. For those who may not be aware: Decals printed on a laser printer do NOT need to be clear coated to seal them. InkJet printed...

    New paint, 42 years later!

Very nice! I finished up a Semroc clone of the Centurion this summer and she flew great! The only problem was that the nose cone whacked a rock when it landed and there's a weird-shaped dent in it, but other than that mine has been a perfect flier.

    Wee Goblin

The Leading Edge Rocketry MMX Goblin is finished! Got 'er done a few weeks ago. The only thing these kits don't include is decals (probably so LE didn't get sued), but I already had a vector redraw of the Goblin decals so they were easy to downscale and print. The other pic is a shot of the...
