    good source for tubular nylon?

Hi, Has anyone found good places to get tubular nylon of different sizes at low cost? Not full spools, but by the foot. I usually get climb spec 9/16" and 1" from REI($0.28 and $0.34 per foot for BlueWater TN). For a current 5.5" tube project, I'd like to get 3/4" to save some weight...

    Aerospace 3D visualisation

Hi Guys. Been a member here for a few years. Not posted in a long time, as other commitments put a hold on the rocketry. Anyhow, I know a number of you are involved in the space/aerospace industry at a professional level, and I'm looking for some advice. I work as a 3D graphic...

Just a quick post to say a big public THANKYOU to Jeffrey at Anchor Parachutes :D Just taken delivery of a custom 50" chute, for a non-rocket-related project. The quality is absolutely excellent - and his attention to detail and helpfulness outstanding. I'll post a photo of the chute later...

    New Chute Design

Thought I'd share this with you: A chute design, which, to the best of my knowledge, is new. I've called it a Vented X-form, for fairly obvious reasons. The most significant detail is that the five panels are NOT sewn to each other, but only to the eight suspension lines, which run from...

    new high-speed drogue design.

Thought I'd share this, and see if there's any interest. I've designed built, and tested this new design for a drogue chute (see atteched pic). It looks complex, but actually comprises just 3 pieces of fabric, and 6 - 8 shroud lines. The benefits are very slow inflation (ie low opening shock)...

new chute design - new pics!!

You may rememeber my post a few weeks back about a new chute design, which I called a cone-gap-band. Well, I thought you might like to see the photos of my latest one - 18" diameter. 1 pic attached here, 2 to follow. Cheers, Andy.

    X37 / X40

Hi. Can anyone point me in the direction of some 3-view drawings of the NASA X37 or X40 research vehicles?? The Dryden archives have some nice movie clips and stills, but no drawings??? Would be great to get hold of these:- I have an idea!:D :D :D :D ;)

    corrugations??!!

Hi. Anyone got any ideas on the best way to create a corrugated body-wrap to go round a small (BT-50) body tube - about 1" top-to bottom. I'm guessing the ridges will only be about 2mm width each - so pretty small. It's for a semi-scale launch vehicle that I'm about to begin. All ideas...

    New Parachute Design.

Thought I'd share this with you all. The attached pic is a new(?) parachute design that I have come up with. Essentially it is a cone, with a extended skirt band below. A bit like the disk-gap-band 'chutes used on the recent mars-landers; more like a cone-gap band. I've tested this in sizes of...
