3D Printing What Are You Printing Today?

Printed this a while back, PETG. Print quit after about 4 days so I finished the rest and will have to trim and mate. I print on glass with White Rain extra hold hair spray and that works well, I find glue stick makes a mess of the bed. Printing the escape tower is a real challenge. Some time I...

3D Printing Request for help with PETG

I was told to keep all filaments dry as they are all hygroscopic. I use Hatchbox PETG with little issues. 235 extrusion, 80 bed, 12mm retraction. A few strings, like dust bunnies but not bad. I print right on the glass bed with White Rain hair spray. e3D clone, use Cura 4.2.1. Attached is a...

    URRF6 June 21, 22, 23th

Any chance of having this launch a week or two later? I miss 4th of July week launches. Convenient for some of us for traveling, I know it isn't for others.

    Saturn V Roll Patterns?

Thinking back, somewhere in the last 50 years or so, I heard or read the roll pattern was shorten on the S1-C to lessen heat absorption from the black paint on the lower end of the LOX tank. But I may be full of crap as well.

    AeroTech Motor Failure

Anyone can, nobody did. He asked and I threw a few links his way instead of a condescending post.

    Fiberglass Question

I use white or very light grey (like sanding sealer in the automotive field, well years ago anyhow) for a final primer for all colors. In my mind (keyword) I figure I get the true color I'm after.

    AeroTech Motor Failure

Kind of sounds like "contact Aerotech" to me....But I'll go one step further and actually try to post even more useful information. Contact the warranty department at AeroTech by email at: [email protected] or by phone at (435) 865-7100 ext. 106. Or write: AeroTech Consumer...

    Where are the good pics?

If you need anymore data let me know, although most of mine is Terrier/Sandhawk related. I do have the hi-res jpg of the NARTS single stage picture if you don't already have it.

    Fiberglass Question

Yes, I pick up brushes at the Dollar General or Family Dollar. At $1 or so for a pack I can afford to use them once and throw them away, they also don't drop bristles. I also use a Bondo spreader to squeegee out the excess epoxy after the glass is down. On another note, heavy solids primer...

    Fiberglass Question

For slight imperfections I'd just use some Bondo Spot Putty. I've never use peel ply but it looks like a good method. I usually finish with a layer of 3/4 oz. glass after the heavy glass then use an orbital sander to finish to the primer state. But I also mix in a cup and pour it out on a plate...

    Saturn 1b question

Looks like the same thing I was look at. My dvd drive is acting up so I can't read some of the disks I would like. Here is what I was looking at.

    Saturn 1b question

Started sifting through my data, so far all I can see is a cable conduit (looks like two cables inside) "located on fuel tanks 1,2,3 only." If this is what you are talking about.

    1/50 scale Saturn 1b

I think they (fins) will be fine. They do look a tad large, is this an upscale of the Estes kit? Looking at your pictures does get me motivated to get my shop cleaned up and get back to work on my 1/30. The fins are still something I'm struggling with as well. Thinking about foam core and glass...

    PML's Quantum Tube.......

Wow....a thread back from the dead...6+ years old. Todd doesn't even build rockets anymore.:D I have seen a QT rocket fall over and break in mid 40 degree temperatures, Todd was there too. I'll never us it but I like to glass. Like everything else, no one size fits all. Use what you like.
