Did anyone fly the "Porta-Pot Shot?"

Yes, I fly mine at least once a year along with my R2-D2.

    HAM Radio anyone?

I took and passed (98%) the Extra class license test this past Saturday. I had been studying using www.hamtestonline.com for two months about 30 to 45 minutes a day; an hour or longer the closer it came to exam time. HTOL does cost about $25 but is well worth it. They have study guides for...

Estes Naboo found buried in a box

R2D2 was parachute recovery. The motor tube is ejected and the parachute and lines are wound around the MM. It does work. Mine is still flying. And so is my Outhouse.

    Streamer recovery question

The accordion fold creates more drag than a smooth streamer.

Estes Spectra drifts 0.6 miles. :)

One of the benefits of a spill hole is the reduction of swinging/tilting. With no spill hole the parachute will tilt one way to dump air then keep tilting or swinging. On landing this will slam the rocket into the ground. With a spill hole there will much less or no tilting and the rocket...

Apogee Aspire Dual Deploy with GPS

IF you are using a transmitter in the 430 - 450 MHz range, you must have an Amateur Radio license to be legal. A Tech class license would work.

At my H-L, the space is still the same but they have reduced the count to about 1/2 the number of kits. So there is the possibility of more kits coming later. They have also started carrying 4 different plastic Airfix (UK) aircraft kits.

    Jupiter C/Juno I - New Scratch Build

General Tools makes a "center finder". I got mine years ago for less than $10 It is brass. Really makes finding center easy and quick. I got mine at Sears, I think some of the big box stores might carry it.

    Why so many diabetics?

May I refer all of you to the book, "Eat To Live" by Dr. Joel Furman? In it he explains why diets DON'T work. It is not how much you eat, but what you eat. 1 pound of salad greens has 100 calories but has a large amount of nutrients.

    Estes New 24mm Conquest

Since the "US MILITARY" is in all caps, you can cut "ARMY" out of military. I did this and it looks great.

Cursing on PBS? On Nova? In 1989?!

What's wrong with nudity? Nothing. Europe has had it on TV since the 60's. Only in backwards America do we think nudity is bad.

    Grumble gasline maintenance

This house has been here since 1972 and none of the lines have been replaced. Well, I had to have my sewer line from the house to the street repaired five years ago.

Show us your oldest model rocket - that's still flying.

I have an Estes "Russian SCUD" from the 1970's that I fly once a year. I don't have a photo.
