    Why People Spank...

Spanked my daughter once. She was about 7 years old. I said something she didn't like. I don't recall exactly what it was. She slapped me on the butt. So, I spanked her back just a little harder than she hit me. Her eyes popped out of her head. She reached back and hit me a little harder...

Delta IV Heavy launch 6:06 EST tonight

Yep. I never thought they were going to launch. I pulled into my driveway convinced the launch would be scrubbed, and my neighbor from across the street is yelling "Paul, it's going up". All I could see was a dim glow behind the clouds, with only a couple of instants that it popped out...

Delta IV Heavy launch 6:06 EST tonight

Do you know the local PD's motto here? "Welcome to Port Orange... you're under arrest." I know quite a few Port Orange Police Officers and they are great guys and gals. A couple even live on my block. That being said, even THEY tell me there is a definitely overzealous faction on the...

Delta IV Heavy launch 6:06 EST tonight

I live in Port Orange, about 60 miles from there as the crow flies. I plan on taking a clip. I'll post it if it comes out good. I wish it was a manned flight.

    Semroc Defender Done!

Very cool. I have one waiting to be built, after I finish the painting on my Hydra 7.

    SEMROC never ceases to amaze

For one model? Wow. Is that some kind of a crazy multi-engine Trident variation? :D

    Beginnings

For Christmas one year, my dad got me an Estes Citation started kit with the Quasar. Mine was one of the original kits, with the Chrome fin can, nose cone, and launch pad. I remember the first launch on an A8 in a parking lot on a Sunday. (Stores used to be closed on Sundays back then.)...

    Engine Mount Length

An extended motor mount reduced the volume of the cavity in the larger body tube, making ejection more reliable. There is less area to pressurize for the ejection charge that way and ensure ejection. Also, a longer engine mount will help reinforce the main Body tube, not that the Big Bertha...

    New Star Trek Enterprise

Is that Spock the guy that plays Gabriel/Sylar on Heroes?

    STS-126 -- Tomorrow

I was able to see the main engines burn until about 1 minute before shut off. This was a more Northern trajectory than I usually see the shuttles take. They are usually more directly East.

    STS-126 -- Tomorrow

I took these pics from the front of my house in Port Orange, FL, just South of Daytona Beach. This is about 60 miles from the launch pad as the crow flies. I wish the pics were better. The bright light of the rocket engines against the night sky confused the heck out of my camera and it...

    New Star Trek Enterprise

If they made the front of the nacelles glow that orange/red color, it would be a perfect feature film prequel version.

    Saturn V Turns 40

I know technology progresses, and we keep moving forward, but I seriously doubt any rocket will ever eclipse the mighty Saturn V as the pinnacle of human rocket development.

Cold Case Teaser with Model Rocket?

I am 45 and I started in model rocketry with a Quasar Citation starter set. I have never used a fuse to launch a rocket.

"My name is Earl" Rocket Builder! /T.V.show

I rarely, and I mean rarely, ever watch that show. I was lucky enough to catch that episode. Very funny.

    Staging 1/2A6-2

    Congrats!

    Staging 1/2A6-2

True, but the extra weight of a spent engine casing would reduce the altitude the booster could gain, thereby reducing it's duration. A lightweight adapter might get him a little more altitude and hence a little more duration on that booster. But I do concede, using a spent casing is easier...

    Who Made These Rockets?

I've pronounced it the same way, but with the accents on different syllables. ESS-tees and Sen-TUR-ee

    Staging 1/2A6-2

I would stage it to a 1/2A3-4T. Make an adapter if you have to.
