An extended motor mount reduced the volume of the cavity in the larger body tube, making ejection more reliable. There is less area to pressurize for the ejection charge that way and ensure ejection. Also, a longer engine mount will help reinforce the main Body tube, not that the Big Bertha...

I was able to see the main engines burn until about 1 minute before shut off. This was a more Northern trajectory than I usually see the shuttles take. They are usually more directly East.

I know technology progresses, and we keep moving forward, but I seriously doubt any rocket will ever eclipse the mighty Saturn V as the pinnacle of human rocket development.

I am 45 and I started in model rocketry with a Quasar Citation starter set. I have never used a fuse to launch a rocket.

True, but the extra weight of a spent engine casing would reduce the altitude the booster could gain, thereby reducing it's duration. A lightweight adapter might get him a little more altitude and hence a little more duration on that booster. But I do concede, using a spent casing is easier...

I would stage it to a 1/2A3-4T. Make an adapter if you have to.
