My best guess is the dynamics of recovery is (sort of) the best answer. My L2 rocket "hatched" its 20" TAC 1 drogue at apogee, spun around it all the way down to 700' and then "hatched" the 60" TAC1...It was then a nice happy/panicky ball o' Z-folded parachute even after the 500" redundant...

I flew my L1 cert rocket then immediatly took the L2 written towards the end of May (same day). I then completed my L2 build and flew for L2 cert in the end of Sept...So, well, it worked for me.

My Gosh Man! Look what you did to the finish on that bulkhead!

I'm sure I'm not the first to think of it or even try it. Amongst the pile o' raw scratch build materials stacked up in my garage is some 1/2" high density polystyrene "GreenGuard" foam insulation special ordered as fin stock. Seems like it would be fairly realistic to cut, airfoil and apply...

I've had yellow Fusion craze over yellow Fusion. Pilot error mind you as I only waited 3~4 days to apply the second heavy coat after a bake-out in my truck. However, even after sanding most of it off, it still crazed a bit on the fillets. I will not buy ANY more Fusion...Hosing down rockets...

I wonder also, if taping sticky side out helps things a bit by not having anything still adhered to the line as it straightens out.
