    501st/Rebel Legions

Hey all- Been a while since I've been active here. I'll probably be back more often now that the San Diego summer hiatus is nearly over. Over the break, I have found something even geekier than rocketry to entertain myself... Star Wars costuming! Yeah, I know... Being on the build...

    Bad movie; Guilty pleasure

Almost 2 pages and no one has yet mentioned "Big Trouble in Little China"... Jack Burton is a philosophical genius!

Nothing like getting smacked down by the LCO after the PRS Y-Wing Bomber had a rather unusual flight at Plaster Blaster 6... Wait 'til the end and you can hear him chiding us over the PA... C9IAjvv6KfU

    Tripoli San Diego April 9th

DART is a NAR section. Tripoli members are welcome to come and fly with us. The launch field we fly from is beautiful, sandy and flat... and unfortunately surrounded on 3 sides by water. While you can fly up to G motors at Fiesta Island, you need to consider that there is some potential of...

    Double Monocopter?

Hey all- Been a while since I've posted here on TRF, but I've just had a brain storm that I wanted to run by someone who might know... Has anyone ever seen plans for a double monocopter design? I know that Art Applewhite makes a kit in his "Helix" series with a horizontal tube in the...

You can also substitute thermite or even a peeled down black powder motor grain for the BKNO3... The G-Wiz units fired at the same time since they were drawing juice from seperate batteries... I seem to remember that we had them set to fire about 1-2 seconds after burnout.

    1/12th Scale Proton-M - Plaster Blaster 2010

The igniters were fired from two separate G-Wiz units each with separate batteries for unit power and for ignition power. No problem firing the e-matches. If you use the BKNO3, there will be no need to paint the grains with pyrogen. The large ball of flame on our ground tests was pretty...

    Star Wars Slave I

I have thought about trying this one before too... If you launch it the direction that it actually flies in the movies, I would think it would behave more like a saucer. Probably a better idea than turning the large base skirt sideways...

    1/12th Scale Proton-M - Plaster Blaster 2010

Hi Marsman- The igniter for the upper stage was a pretty simple item. We had two dipped igniters (one was the stock igniter that came with the motor) taped to the supplied dowel with a BKNO3 pellet in there for good measure. We got the pellet from a guy who makes them locally. We test...

    1/12th Scale Proton-M - Plaster Blaster 2010

There are currently no plans for a total rebuild... However Jim DeVeau thinking of using the remaining section of airframe for a scratch rocket... The section with the "OH-M" from the bottom of the "NPOTOH-M" sustainer section is still intact. We thought it might be funny to invert so that it...

Alrighty... As promised, the recap of the Proton flight... After spending much of Friday and Saturday of Plaster Blaster prepping the rocket, we finally got it loaded on the pad and ready to launch late saturday afternoon. The weather was perfect. Very light breeze blowing away from the...

    Discount Rocketry

I visited their new offices last week. I'd say you have little to worry about with them about going out of business. I'll try sending them an e-mail pointing to this thread and hopefully that will help with your issues.

    Discount Rocketry

I saw them at a launch a couple weeks ago and didn't see anything weird. Normally I contact them through e-mail and get pretty prompt responses.

    1/12th Scale Proton-M - Plaster Blaster 2010

Thanks! I groaned heavily when I was told that the real Proton that was being launched was going to be silver and not all white... I HATE painting silver too... It runs easily and shows every imperfection... But, with all the prep we did it's going on pretty well! My suggestion for an...
