    OpenRocket Source Code Question

Has anybody taken a look at the source code? Specifically the area that deals with flight simulation? I'm having trouble finding it on github, and I'd like to use it to base a dispersion analysis tool. Or at least hand it to a team to work on. The other option is for our dispersion guy to...

My Club's P Motor Static Fire

Hi All, I've been away from the forum for a while, but I wasn't shying away from rockets! My school's rocket club is working on larger and larger rockets, and we static fired our first P motor at the Friends of Amateur Rocketry site in Cantil, CA. Propellant was mixed and prepared by John...

    TAPs in San Diego

Does anybody know a TAP in the San Diego area? My school's rocket club is working on a C3 project and Tripoli requires a TAP to check production before signing off on everything. I know of some in LA, but none down in San Diego. Thanks, Jared

    GPS on Radar Opaque Airframes

How have people dealt with CF/metal airframes and GPS units? Has anyone run the wire outside the airframe and epoxied the wire to smooth it? Does the board itself need to be outside the airframe to pick up GPS? Any info helps :)

    Help: Cut Kevlar During Descent!

This is the second time this has happened to a rocket I've flown. Nose eject a drogue at apogee, and all I end up finding is the GPS since the body cut the Kevlar during descent and caused separation. What can be done to fix this, swivels, thicker harness, rounding the inside of the airframe...

3" Electronics Bay Bulkheads, Kevlar, and Parachute

Hi there, I'm looking to purchase: Two 3" Electronics Bay bulkheads. Used is fine. I need fiberglass, carbon fiber, or aluminum stepped bulkheads for a 3" Carbon Fiber coupler from Wildman Rocketry Kevlar: 1000+ lb break strength, 20 ft Parachute: Somewhere in the range of 60"...

    Rousetech and Bay Area Rocketry

For a school project I had to get two sets of 75/5120 full casing sets. BAR was prompt with information, and the new casings came extremely quickly from the manufacturer and/or Mike@BAR. Plus Mike gave the school a discount and those red plastic tubes to keep the casings scratch free...

    Diameter of 4" diameter Coupler

I've been looking around, and I'm completely unable to find a resource to see nominal ID and OD for filament wound tubes and couplers. Is there a resource, or does anybody have the ID and OD of a 4" filament wound fiberglass coupler? Specifically the coupler that seats into a von karman...

    Sewing Nomex

I recently procured a couple square yards of nomex, and I have kevlar sewing thread on the way. A few questions: What is the best stitch pattern? How tight should the stitches be? And more generally, what is the best method of stopping edge fraying? Thanks, if this goes well I may...

    Guess The Rocket!

Hey TRFers, I've been pretty busy recently, so I figured I could hit two birds with one stone by explaining my situation in this thread. Over the next couple months I'll be feeding everybody information. If you know what project I'm working on already please don't guess. Hint 1) I'm making...

    Nose Cone Shapes

A college friend of mine is getting the Physics club to conduct an experiment about nose cone shape vs. height, and the effects associated with them. I know I've seen a link to a seller (fliskits?) that sells a variety of nose cone shapes to be used for this exact experiment. Does anybody have...

    Project 60K: N5800 Contest Rocket

Project 60K Failure Analysis In May of 2012 Project60k was started as an attempt to break the “N” altitude record, and complete the CTI N5800 challenge. After much design and other collaborative work we had come up with a design that fit the goals and a reasonable timeline for...

    11.5" Squat L3 Build Thread

Hi Everybody, The time is fast approaching when I will be L3 certified. I will be going through NAR and my rocket will be an 11.5" Squat. It will feature a central 98mm MMT with three outboard 38s and three outboard 54s for future use (maybe?) It will certify on an M1297 bought from...

    High Strength Fincans

I am currently in the process of designing fins capable of surviving mach 3.8+ at low altitudes (below 15k MSL), and I have various options to choose from. The numbers are the options, and the bullets are possible methods of adhesion. I will cross out or add options as they become viable. 1)...

    College Team Designing Rocket Engine

I think many of you know me as I have been on this forum for about a year and a half. I have achieved great success both with fast rockets and slow rockets, but I have never tried my hand at experimental or amateur rocketry. With the partial backing of my college, I, and some of my peers...

    Difference of Opinions, Suggestions Needed

I have a conundrum for the community. Bandman444(Bryce), Tominator79(Tom), and all came together to help Bryce design and assemble the fins for his High School's project. The project is a 3" MD rocket aiming towards mach 3 to measure aerodynamic heating curves and compare against acceleration...

    People fighting in threads

I've been on this forum for a year and a half now, and what I've seen is that people will post in somebody's thread, and then another person will respond to said post, and then it escelates. It's annoying and I always feel like posting something akin to "FIGHT FIGHT!!!" but so far I have not...
