Level 1 Certification — What would you do differently?

I used an AeroTech G-Force. My thinking was to get my L1 with a rocket not much different than I was used to flying and building. I made some changes, I used an aeropack adapter and left out the baffle. But, I was limited to 29 mm motors, and did not end up flying that rocket much afterwards...

24MM New Estes Citation Patriot build

I did finish this one, I realized I never updated this thread. I did not add nose weight, I think I have flown this one once with a d12-5, it was fine.

    2018 Hobby Lobby Summer Clearance

My curiosity got the better of me after seeing many posts in different groups of hauls of airbrushes, and plastic models. Most of which was stuff I do not need, but I had time today and made the 35 minute trek to the Hobby Lobby in Leesburg VA. There were no models or airbrushes on clearance...

24MM New Estes Citation Patriot build

They are on the side you can not see in this picture. I used 3/16" launch lugs in the same place specified for the 1/8". I forgot to document the addition of the Launch lugs.

24MM New Estes Citation Patriot build

I tried to get too fancy painting this one. I decanted what I had left of a can of Tamiya Pure white, and used the trusty badger 250 to paint this rocket. I got 1 coat on 2/3rd of the rocket and ran out of paint. A few days later I found 3 cans of Valspar white lacquer in the garage which I...

24MM New Estes Citation Patriot build

I got all three fins glued on, and fillets applied. I used titebond trim glue for the fillets One of the fins broke when I was careless during the process of removing from the laser cut sheet. So I glued it back together. I also painted the nose cone with Testors Boyds gloss black. I used...

24MM New Estes Citation Patriot build

I have inserted the engine mount, and attached the first fin I like this tool, it does a very good job of keeping one fin straight while the glue sets. I could not find my titebond II around the house, so while I was on my middle of the night walmart run, I picked up a bottle of Gorilla wood...

24MM New Estes Citation Patriot build

It has been a while since I built a Low power rocket. I have reached a plateau with High power, so I thought it would be fun to build some new Low Power kits, and see how nice I can make them look. I saw the re-issue of the Citation Patriot, and it was too cool looking to pass up. The original...

I will fly the all American with a J394 .. that should get up there. I also have a new MPR I will fly with a G64, it is a light estes Panavia, so it should also be a nice flight. I will use the Chute release on that flight.

    Fiberglass kit assembly question

Great. Looks like I need to stock up on reinforced dremel cut off wheels. And ensure I have saftey goggles and dust mask. Fiberglass sure is nasty.

    Fiberglass kit assembly question

In another thread I got some good guidance regarding my very tight fitting Aeropack adapter. I have another question. On the cardboard HPR rockets I have built, I extended the fin slot to the end of the tube, this way, I can remove the motor mount/fins before final assembly. This makes...

Rocketry Warehouse and 54 mm Aeropack

I am working on a RW All American, a 4 inch/54mm Fiberglass kit. So I started fitting the parts and when I bought the kit I also purchased a 54 P retainer. it is a very tight fight to the motor tube. It is so tight I can not put it on all the way, not even half way. I started sanding with 60...

    LDRS 36 - 2017 reports

The organization and running of the event was great. MDRA did a great job with the set up of the field, parking area, and keeping the lines moving. I can not imagine the amount of work which went into holding this event. I had two unremarkable flights with my EZI-65. Saturday with an I-285...

    BattlePark Spring Launch March 24, 25, & 26

On Sunday I launched, and recovered an estes Mosquito. Now with two flights, it has doubled the typical life expectancy of a Mosquito. I also flew my Mega Mosquito on an e9-4. I probably should have flown more, but I was too busy talking.

    BattlePark Spring Launch March 24, 25, & 26

Spring in VA.... yesterday we froze to death, and today it was very warm. any way I had two flights, my Leviathan on a H-163 ... The chute release worked but the parachute did not open. but, the Leviathan was undamaged. My second flight was my EZI-65 on a J-381 skidmark. 2994 feet and a...
