    Colonizing Titan

Titan would for sure be a better place than Mars. Staying warm really wouldn't be an issue. Easiest way to handle that is to simply set up a nuclear reactor on the surface and circulate the warm water in the cooling tank through a series of pipes to keep a habitat living enclosure warm.

Why isn't FAA waiver altitude determined???

Lots of frustration trying to reconcile this. It doesn't make much sense. Somebody can stick a 125gram propellant H motor in a minimum diameter rocket and go over a mile high. OVER 5280 feet high but you can't launch a bigger I or J motor heavier rocket to 3,000 or 4,000!?!?!? Why isn't it...

WHAT THE HECK HAS HAPPENED TO THE ROCKETRY FORUM???

Guys. Guys. Guys. Guys. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL FORMAT FOR THIS FORUM. Now when I go to the forum all I see is ADS, ADS, ADS, and more ADS. The forum is now in this tiny window surrounded by ADS! I'm okay with a banner at the top or bottom with scrolling ADS but now the forum is a...

Aerotech's Million Dollar - Million Foot Challenge

I'm gonna head back to that bar this Friday night and see if that L3 guy is there. Belly up to the bar next to him and ask him what he's building for that million dollar challenge. See what he says. LOL. But contests and competitions are for sure cool. Like others have said here. It'd be great...

Aerotech's Million Dollar - Million Foot Challenge

I didn’t know the margins in motor manufacture and sales were so tight. When I heard the L3 guy bragging to the girl about how he was gonna win a million bucks and go a million feet after Aerotech announces it sounded real to me because I do know other contests exist. Heck, you could go a...

Aerotech's Million Dollar - Million Foot Challenge

You might be right. But if you are right, that totally sucks. They make so much money off all of us the least they can do is a give us another carrot to chase after. Right? So this L3 guy was simply telling a tale? I dunno. Maybe come August they will announce something. Which would be cool.

Aerotech's Million Dollar - Million Foot Challenge

I don’t think it’s possible. But that’s why I was wondering about the details on the contest. If a boosted dart is allowed then a three stage to a boosted dart might get you there but a dart simply coasts and doesn’t have a motor so that might not be allowed. If a boosted dart is allowed it...

Aerotech's Million Dollar - Million Foot Challenge

Ok. Does anyone know anything about this and any more of the contest details? To make a long story short I'm kicking back at a local watering hole that has social distancing and is open, it's a desert hole in the wall bar that has its fair share of pilots, military guys/girls and lots of...

Tracking powder and Jolly Logic Chute Release

Does anyone know if tracking powder, specifically powdered chalk from Home depot, would mess up the functioning of the Jolly Logic Chute Release altitude sensors? I'm running an ejection baffle, then a nomex chute protector wrapped around my chute and Jolly Logic. Tracking powder would be in a...

Anyone out West starved for flight time? Head to ROCKONN July 18th! It's on!

Weather is looking awesome for this coming weekend!!! COME ON OUT AND FLY!!! It won't break 95 and it will be sunny all day. Best part about Artesia Dry Lake is it stays cool in the morning and the highs for the day come in the late afternoon after everybody has flown quite a bit and is just...
