Where to begin with laser cutting fins and cr's.

I've been (slowly) working on an openSCAD/thingiverse customizer where you can just select the body tube vendor and then reference tubes and it will kick out CRs which you can export as whatever file type you want, but SVG and DXF etc will be scaled to size. For SVG that happens automatically...

Yeah, he also said he knows the owner as well as something like "it seems to be dead"

3D Printing Anyone printing an ejection baffle/baffle parts?

Yeah, I usually put a little something in there depending on the chute material. I too have some rockets where the baffle is fine, but the real advantage is the shelf. Good luck!

3D Printing What Are You Printing Today?

awesome. Are you converting down from an image or did you actually design that "manually"? If ur willing to share the file, I'd love to try it on my laser cutter

you can also use steel wool, tho I have never done so personally. In the one you printed, does it have the half moons inside, or a similar snaking path for the gases, or is it just the central holes on one end and the peripheral holes on the other end? I find I like the snaking ones like Dave's...

CIWS is not a “Machine Gun”. Come on CNN. Don’t Be Sloppy with Facts.

My son is pleading for me to post this on this thread or, for the even *shorter* version:

Where to begin with laser cutting fins and cr's.

FWIW, and probably not much, but I also use SVG most of the time. My wife has illustrator so usually whatever 3d modeling format I can find can be loaded into illustrator, or another tool to convert to SVG. One thing I often forget is since SVG is infinitely scalable, there's usually no...

That's very vague. What is sustained? When does it start to soften? Tg has a standard definition, and there's "onset" and "ultimate", and (sadly) more than one defined way to measure it

Yeah, nice and vague on the temps. That always makes me wary

Did anyone spot the Tg for the PC-11? The amazon listing says "a temperature range of 35 to 115 degrees F and a service temperature range -20 to +200 degrees F". If that implies the Tg is 115F, definitely be careful if you have hot summers, would very likely sag if on the pad or in the car too...

M1147 Tank AMP Round (3D Printed Parts + Body Tubes + Plywood)

Inserting myself into the conversation briefly 😉, I've entertained a few alternatives, but haven't found anything I thought would really work. I bought a box of all-metal thumb tacks. It might work, but they are a much smaller diameter so they'd be very loose. Oh, I should add that I'm clinging...

    Wildman Mach2 HED Recovery Gear?

Sorry for reviving an old thread. @rfjustin you have a Valkyrie now right (a larger one if I remember the other thread correctly), but I was wondering if you thought a 36" Valkyrie elliptical would work for the Mach2? From what I can tell, it might actually be too slow (assuming a 3.5 - 4.0 lb...

Exciting New Rocketry Products Coming Soon - We Need Your Feedback!

I realize your charge well solution may not involve measurement marks, but if it does, etch/engrave and stamp with ink (I'm not sure if there's a better way to say that). I have sockets w/engraved sizes and they are unreadable %90 of the time due to lighting etc. On the other hand, I have items...

    Rocketman site down?

Still nothing from Rocketman. I'm glad I didn't order a chute

Do you have I was just about to ask the same thing

Why do my cameras keep failing?

I would bet the ballistic recovery weakened a solder joint or similar such that certain accelerations exacerbate the problem. Totally guessing tho

3D Printing Norm's SCAD file repository and 3D printing

That's why I said "if the authors want me to", so you could have just said "no thanks". That road to hell really is paved w/good intentions, you'd think I would have learned that by now

No need, that's exactly what they were trying to avoid having to do

I could put these files on GitHub and link them here and you'd be able to download directly as JSON files. *If* the authors want me to. Josh
