10mm Makerbeam - for micro rail buttons

Put on my micro rail buttons for 1st time tonight - didn't go as well as planned. They went in just fine, but i realized shortly after starting, that the screws I'd thought were metal, are actually nylon. I started carefully "threading" them into the hole I'd drilled, and noticed the head would...

Current camcorder offerings - May 2020

I picked up a new Canon SL3 DSLR with all the extra doo-dads for around $550 including shipping on Ebay. Know you were looking for camcorder, but a DSLR can do great things photo-wise with almost endless possibilities, and record 1080p or 4K.

Fin Vacuum Bagging Process by rharshberger

Does this process lend itself to much cleanup/sanding after to smooth and flatten? Or is the end product rather flat after vacuum bagging?

10mm Makerbeam - for micro rail buttons

Will do - on mine, I opted for the full-length version of the kit, w/out the coupler. Will be a little tricky to get epoxy on the end of a skewer that far up in the BT through the aft end, but I'll make it work, then I plan to slide the shock cord mount down from the forward end, into the epoxy...

10mm Makerbeam - for micro rail buttons

I went ahead and ordered the same from Amazon. I too am building a Mach 1 BT-20 kit, the Alien Interceptor. I'll give the micro buttons a try and let you know how it goes. I was planning on mounting the aft button into the motor block (that seems like a strong spot), and reinforcing on the...

10mm Makerbeam - for micro rail buttons

Oh my goodness, I swear I entered that info 20 times, and didn't get the results I was looking for - just entered again and it came up! Thank you. I plan to build one pad for my own personal use, and one to donate to my local DARS club. TY! :D

10mm Makerbeam - for micro rail buttons

Does anyone know where i can get a 900mm - 1500mm length (or US equivalent) of 10mmx10mm micro rail button Makerbeam, other than the Makerbeam website ordering from overseas and paying all the shipping?

    Support our hobby!

Dropped some orders through Erockets, and picked up a Fliskits Acme. Buyrocketmotors for 29mm and 24mm casings. Does ordering Goex 4f black powder count? ;)

Recommended first RMS casing - 29mm category

Roger that! I've had an F26-6FJ waiting for me to pickup since December at a DARS launch from BuyRocketMotors. Along with getting my Mean Machine back from last year's July launch! :p

Recommended first RMS casing - 29mm category

Good advice! I'm not looking to get certification on the 29mm, that will be done on a 38mm at a later time when I build up my experience and familiarity with RMS motors. For the 38mm I may go with a DMS for my cert flight, or if I feel comfortable enough by then with RMS, borrow a 38mm casing if...

Recommended first RMS casing - 29mm category

I'm not really sure either. If I had to venture a guess, I would say it could be the amount of propellant in a single grain? I'm sure someone here with much more knowledge than myself knows though. As someone who works around Hazmat for a living, and has a CDL with Hazmat endorsements, it's...

Recommended first RMS casing - 29mm category

Not level 1 yet, but planning on being by the end of the year. I think I'll start out with the 24/40-120, and go with a few G motors in my Argent to get experience of working with motors close to L1, as well as the RMS system of assembly, cleaning, etc. Also the RMS E motors it can take will...

Recommended first RMS casing - 29mm category

I'd been pondering the 29/40-120 to try out, but their reloads in all the F variants for some reason carry a Hazmat fee? Is there somewhere else to get them that doesn't? Only the E16 and E23's are non-hazmat, and then it looks to jump straight to G53 motors and beyond for non-hazmat.

Recommended first RMS casing - 29mm category

Hello! This may have been discussed previously, but I wanted to see what your thoughts/recommendations were for first-time RMS casing in the 29mm category, 29/40-29/360. I'm new to RMS motors, have never flown/assembled one before, and I would like to get some experience and confidence. This...

DARS Launches - Dallas Area Rocket Society

Quick question - regarding rails, I'm building a couple rockets now that will use micro rail buttons (10mm sq Makerbeam) and mini rail buttons (20mm sq Makerbeam). I can't remember seeing if we had those size rails at our HP launch? They're going on an 18mm min-diameter Mach 1 Alien...

What did you do rocket wise today?

I started a new "flight log". Not that impressive - yet! Of course..., I had to add some flair.

What did you do rocket wise today?

I've used Createx "pearlized" paints before, below to paint my Estes Argent "Artemis" via airbrush. After Rustoleum primer in gray, I top coated with Createx "Pearl Tangerine" for the nose cone and transition areas, followed by blend to "Pearl Blue" for the aft end. Top coated with Rustoleum...
