    Aerotech Space Challenge

I have found a few, easily available modules that have a maximum altitude above 100km (but still a velocity limit of around 500-600m/s). Those should allow for GNSS altitude verification above 100km. A friend of mine is planning on doing GNSS testing using a GNSS simulator to verify those...

"Deja Vu" - L2100X Submin to Mach 3.6 below 2500' AGL - Apogee at 21,000ft.

I took the data point in the components analysis in OR. The mach number slide only goes up Mach 3 and I didn't bother going above using the sim.

"Deja Vu" - L2100X Submin to Mach 3.6 below 2500' AGL - Apogee at 21,000ft.

Congrats on the nominal flight! Would you mind uploading your CAD design on GrabCad or other platforms so that other people can improve on the design? One interesting point: for Deja Vu and Gas Gas Gas, the stability margin estimated by OpenRocket was negative near burnout. So here's a...

    AeroTech Open Thread

Hello, I recently flew an old Aerotech I500 at FAR. The flight went great. After the flight, we noticed that the burn time was much shorter than expected at around 0.3s and the flame was much longer than usual. The igniter used was 1.5g of Warp9 shavings in a glove tip. Could this be the reason...

What did you do rocket wise today?

Yes, all the fins were around the landing site, they held the up part just fine.

What did you do rocket wise today?

It was, indeed, my launch. I had two baguettes, one for the rocket and one for my launch. I ended up screwing up the first one so I had to use the second one...

Gas Gas Gas, a single-use 5G EMK rocket

In the design, I set the minimum LE thickness to 1.2mm to account for that. Looking at the new part I received, the trailing edge is straight, but all the leading edges have an approximately ~0.5mm low spot around their center when putting a straight edge against them, but that could be from...

Gas Gas Gas, a single-use 5G EMK rocket

Thank you, I'm aware that a VK nosecone would give me more volume for electronics and recovery but I like the conical look more, mainly for ease of manufacturability and for making the coupling slightly easier. The angle of the cone was 6°. The nosecone getting locked onto the coupler is a...

Gas Gas Gas, a single-use 5G EMK rocket

So I've received the replacement fincan from 3DPnxt as the last one was completely butchered during the finishing process. I asked for no finish. Despite the fin thickness, it is only 190g. This will make for a not-so-good paperweight...

Gas Gas Gas, a single-use 5G EMK rocket

Thank you (: In CAD the fincan was 180g, and it was 190g as I received it. this is due to the leftover support material inside the fins. It could have been much lighter with thinner fins. I'll improve on the design to make it printable without internal support.

Gas Gas Gas, a single-use 5G EMK rocket

So I was initially planning on building a small 54 to 54 two stage rocket while in the US for my internationnal semester. After ordering the propellent and single use EMKs from RCS, and cutting the grains, I realized that I wouldn't have enough time to complete the project. So I was left with a...
