Yeah, awesome video. AND TO BE 100% CLEAR, I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ROCKET OR THE VIDEOS. I'm just another awed spectator! The slow mo video above was posted to the MDRA FB group...
The video has the exact credits, but I believe it was Tom Cohen on construction, Bob for inspiration, and Scott for the motors (2x O7000, IIRC).
Slow motion video now on YouTube.
I've been saving them for that reason, though I'll need to 3D print a skinnier funnel! I think if I try to pour it even on a fold of paper, I'll end up covering my desktop with BP!
All of the ejection charge calculators use grams, not milliliters, of FFFFg. That said, I have heard that there's a consistent density, so it'd actually be nice to have volumetric scoops rather than using a popsicle stick and milligram scale!
It's a slippery slope, @Bill S! Most of them have couplers in the middle, so you can fit more than you think as long as you "split" them in the car! ;)
Consider yourself lucky! Two bad igniters made it take five rounds to get my first and only rocket of the day in the air! ;)
But I had a great time regardless, my daughter launched her rocket twice, and our rocketry mentor Dave had a picture perfect launch of his custom 5.5" Nike Hercules. Many...
Mini flame war aside, I believed it was fine to prep charges ahead of time until I read that L2 exam question. Made me wonder, since I know many charge methods MUST be done ahead of time. But that L2 question made we wonder how close my prepped charges should be to things like motors or cans of...
There's an L2 exam question that highlights the risk of induced current causing unexpected ignition of BP charges. On the other hand, Modern High Power Rocketry 2 explains various ejection charges that could only be made ahead of time.
Is it safe to make my glove-tip ejection charges before...
Sad that Sunday is canceled (not that I could have gone), but today was PERFECT rocketry weather! Just wish my stupid igniters hadn't cost me most of the day -- thought I would be doing my L2 cert flight by lunchtime, and now I'll have to hope for April!
Still had a GREAT time seeing all the...
I have two Quarks (Rev C2), one of which I was just testing (again) before Red Glare this weekend, as it is my backup to the Quantum on my first redundant DD rocket (my L2 cert rocket -- hopefully -- a 5.5" LOC Patriot).
Anyway, referring to the Rev B4 manual, my number of continuity beeps are...
