    Time for an 8th edition?

Fact: I haven't read it in about 5 years. 1. "Affordable" DIY CNC and 3D printing 2. Design and simulation software available to the average Joe. Yes, with names like RockSim and OpenRocket. I'm not saying that's enough, but it's something.

    HAWK MIM-23B Photos, Ft. Bliss

Here are some photos of the HAWK display at Ft. Bliss. I took them last summer (2015), while I was there for a wedding. My dad is retired Army, so that's who we got on base.

Estes Apollo 11 Saturn V Build Thread

Have I mentioned how vacuum formed plastic is the devil? I sanded down the excess plastic edges of the fins. I started with very aggressive 60 grit sandpaper. Then when it very close to the actual fin, I switched to 220 grit. Some of the pressure of sanding caused some of the glue joints...

    Let's learn from our mistakes.

Use the appropriate glue/adhesive, in the appropriate amount, within appropriate working times and leave for appropriate drying times. Use the appropriate adhesive. Wood fins attached to cardboard tubes with plastic cement break off easily during landing and general handling. When I...

    Andriod or IPhone

I prefer Android because it's mostly open and your device is yours, albeit with a little work sometimes. Google can offer you most of what Apple does in terms of sharing and cloud storage. You can also install pretty much any app from anywhere, so long as you trust it. If necessary, you can...

I cut and glued the fins together (pictures later). I followed the instructions to do so. I used Testors liquid cement to bond the two halves. To make sure the halves were properly aligned here's what I did: 1. Tear 2 small pieces of masking tape to fold over the rood and leading edges of...

What song brings back your early model rocketry memories?

None that make me think of rocketry, but plenty of GenX music I still really like.

    Estes Print Catalog?!

That's what I remember, despite their site having a catalog for every year. Starting with the 2005 catalog, the pdfs on the site are digital originals and not photocopies of the catalog.

    Estes Print Catalog?!

I thought they had stopped a print edition... I haven't seen any in local hobby shops in Houston for years. I just moved to Beaumont, TX a few months ago; there certainly aren't any here.

U.S. Crews Fail To Place in NATO Tank Competition

:2: When are we ever going to REALLY use/need tanks and tank crews at that level? Sure we'll use them in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the enemy doesn't stand a chance in "tank combat." Certainly not Crimea/Ukraine, Georgia, Syria. Notice how Russia has close involvement with all of them...

Follow the instructions for marking the body tube. Again, I masked the areas I didn't want adhesive over spray. Then I removed the masking tape, so as not to glue it to the tube. I taped the ends to prevent lifting. I painted the base plate for the engines flat white, forgot the matte...

Estes Apollo 11 Saturn V Build Thread

Here are the painted engine nozzles: Here's the "stage 3" transition: I cut and sanded the wraps for a good fit with uniform edges. I masked off the sections of the transition I didn't want the spray adhesive (3m 77) to cover, leaving exposed areas for all 3 wraps. I sprayed...
