Coronavirus: What questions do you have?

The thing is...those studies that have found it beneficial say that it only helps if taken early in the diseases progression...so if you wait till you're "on your deathbed"... it absolutely won't be of any help....

    Nice! ...Replica or original?

    GUNS & ROCKETS

HR 5717.....read it....it provides the means to confiscate all guns it really boils down to the basic human right of self defense....whether that defense is a thug who would do you or your family harm or an out of control goverment....countries like the UK have decided you don't have that...

Coronavirus: What questions do you have?

Yet they decided hydroxychloroquine causes heart attacks...at least in the US...hmmmmm...

    Very nice!

What I did today -instead- of Rocketry.

I know what you mean....this time we had to split the cases and send it out to be machined for the bigger crank.....the sportsters have 4 cams too but no chains..you do have to get them lined up correctly...we tore this one down in February so it's still pretty fresh in the mind.....funny thing...

What I did today -instead- of Rocketry.

It's a sportster with 1275 kit, 30 degree pistons Buell xb crank....should run good

What I did today -instead- of Rocketry.

We put the lower end back in my brothers bike ....new crank....got the cam chest back together.....hopefully tomorrow we'll get the top end back together....

    An "R"-powered rocket build

If you're saying the rocket will weathercock more if its angled slightly off the wind......all I can say is that hasn't been my experience.....I'm sure exit speed off the rail, stability ratio and fin area come into play but many times I've launched rockets slightly off the wind to have them...

    An "R"-powered rocket build

I'm sure your decision not to launch at LDRS is a sound one.....never launch unless you're comfortable with everything...as far as launching away from the wind in a "tailwind"....that's usually a good practice....rockets, especially ones that lift off slowly, tend to weathercock a bit and...

    An "R"-powered rocket build

Are you going to "hang" the rocket from the rail in the horizontal position? Or place the rocket on top of the rail?.... if it's the latter, you can also add support rollers to hold the rocket segments in position to slide onto the rail guides

    An "R"-powered rocket build

Chuck, I think for Jim's testing to be relevant, you would have to maintain the same diameter to length ratio as he used.....and the tube sized according to the charge
  13. P

    An "R"-powered rocket build

If you built a minimum diameter booster for your "R" motor and put a long burn minimum diameter 4" sustainer on top...I suspect you'd be in that neighborhood

    An "R"-powered rocket build

Got it....it might be worth drawing a vacuum to test it because I dont think Jim's testing will apply. It's very possible it could test fine on the ground and fail at 40,000'... Jim's system relies on a narrow diameter long tube to generate the back pressure necessary to obtain a complete...

    An "R"-powered rocket build

Chuck, do you know the size of the apogee charge....if I understand what you're proposing, you don't need to pressurize the whole chamber containing the drogue ...just the piston assy...

    An "R"-powered rocket build

Steve, I wasnt suggesting not using wadding in Chucks cannons...Chucks idea of canisters to take its place should work also...anything to hold the charge together....I was just theorizing that the reason Jim's long skinny tubes work is similar to why blank charges in large cannon don't require...

    An "R"-powered rocket build

I think the reason Jim and Tony's system works is the same reason blank black powder artillery charges go boom....the way it was always explained to me is...that if the tube is long enough relative to the bore....it can't get out of it's own way ....blank charges in BP artillery don't use...

    An "R"-powered rocket build

You have to be careful with too slow a descent rate...the impact with the ground is a combination of wind speed and descent rate I doubt 38mm airframe tubing will contain large BP charges...I believe they'll be BP grenades...be careful

    An "R"-powered rocket build

Actually, there's a bit more going on than just relative inefficiency...it you watch a Rocketman chute open, you'll see the triangular panels where the shroud lines are attached stay drawn to the center and prevent air from rushing in and popping the chute open....as more air fills the chute...

    An "R"-powered rocket build

To me it's entirely believable that it will handle it....we've brought 60lb rockets down plenty of times on a 16' rocketman chute...when you double the dia....you quadruple the area...so a little less than 4x the dia = almost 16x the area.......it should handle the 800lb rocket...obviously...
