    Receive Eggtimer data with SDR

With the holidays over I'm only able to work on this about an hour each evening. I was using the Universal Hacker Radio software last night to look at the signal. I was able to get some data that looked correct, but mixed with a lot of garbage. I just need to continue playing with it. I'm...

    Receive Eggtimer data with SDR

I just picked up a RTL-SDR dongle and I've been playing with various signals. I've also been a long time Eggtimer user. I have working LCD receivers but I wanted to play around with using the SDR dongle to pick up and decode the signals from the HM-TRP transmitter on the Eggtimer modules. Maybe...

    What altitude for JLCR?

I’ve also heard they have a +/- 100ft accuracy. I wouldn’t want to temp fate. I typically use 400’ for our site. 300’ on a windy day and a light rocket. I’d be nervous going lower.

3D Printing Updated extruder and klipper

So after using my stock Creality CR-10 v2 for years I decided it was time for an update. I added a Swiss Micro NG Direct Drive Extruder / hotend and installed Klipper with my raspberry pi. I also moved the filament from the side to above the printer. It took some time to get Klipper...

    Split Cameras

It is and there is a setting to record on power up. That is how I use it. Assuming the launch pad isn’t too far away I can turn it on from my phone right before the launch. That way I don’t have to worry about it overheating and shutting down while I wait my turn. I’ve only had one launch so...

    Split Cameras

It’s the runcam split 4. Pics from various prints. The battery is on the sled with the altimeters.

    Split Cameras

I didn't realize that was a video. Wow! I love the spring load. I was trying to figure out how I was going to get the camera flush in one of my applications.

    Split Cameras

I was looking at the runcam thumb for a nosecone cam in my 38mm minimum diameter rocket. But it would end up with a vertical video. It is made to record with the camera horizontal.

    Split Cameras

I have a camera mounted on the outside facing down but I wanted a horizontal facing camera mounted internally. This pic is from before I painted. Video from camera:

    Split Cameras

I have a Mobius Mini camera and based on the documentation it should able to be started with an external voltage applied. I've never mounted it internally so I haven't tried to see if that would work.

    Split Cameras

I used a little thermal paste for the contact but used a bit of epoxy on the edges to hold it in place. I know it’s a little permanent but I couldn’t think of any way to keep it in place during flight.

    Split Cameras

I added a small heat sink to mine and I use a eggtimer WiFi switch so I don’t turn it on until right before launch. In case it sits on the pad a while waiting. I’ve only launched it a couple times but it hasn’t shut off during the flight yet.

    Your painting regimen

Houston weather can’t be counted on so I paint in the garage. Cheap drop cloth on the ground and I built a pvc frame that I can easily dismantle. Wrap plastic around it. Box fan with the cheapest 20” air filter I can buy to vent out of the garage. I have two jack stands with a broom handle to...

    Video of Eggfinder Voice?

That was the eggtimer voice that comes from the altimeters. When using a gps transmitter you don’t get the “ready for flight” and altitude announcements. But you do get the same voice reading the compass direction and distance to the rocket after landing. I have both receivers with a single...

    3D Printing Creality Sonic Pad

I keep my printer in the closet and do all of my printing through Octoprint from my computer. I'm not sure I need the user controls the Sonic Pad gives me. I'd rather spend that money on upgrading to a direct drive extruder and getting rid of the bowden tube. It looks like more effort but I...

    3D Printing Creality Sonic Pad

Oooh... This is my first time hearing about this. I haven't touched my setup in a long time but I would love a faster print. I have a Creality CR-10 v2, using Octoprint on a Rasberry Pi 4. Looks like I have a weekend project in my future.

    Uses for a Cricut

I used the Oracle vinyl on my rocket because of TRF recommendations and I agree. It worked way better than the samples and other ones I bought to test. I’ve only launched it once without a clear coat. We’ll see how it holds up. The transfer tape makes a difference too. This was recommended...

    Uses for a Cricut

That is brilliant! We have a large cutting mat and we haven’t done anything with it yet.

    Uses for a Cricut

We recently purchased a Brother Scan-n-Cut. It cuts vinyl and fabric. It has the advantage that it will scan any image and create a cut-out for it. I've made vinyl letters and stencils for painting. The software will use any Windows font. My wife is a quilter so it was the perfect "share" toy...
