    Re-painting phenolic with rough surface

Awesome, thank you! I put a layer of wood filler on it last night, I'm going to wait and sang that down and see how it works. I'll probably try your method. This rocket has been sitting around for months so I don't care if it takes a while to repair.

    Re-painting phenolic with rough surface

I have an LOC NORAD that had a rough recovery (few weeks in the wild) I've been slowly repairing in my spare time. There are parts of the airframe that have some pretty deep wounds. I'm trying to figure out how to get any sort of smooth finish on this thing. Any suggestions? Would filler...

Anyone flown an Estes Big Daddy on 38MM hardware?

Paging Jim Jarvis! He has done several iterations on the Big Daddy. I think he said he made one that flies on J motors - 54mm. I have this pic he sent saved for some reason.

    Is this mistake fixable?

Thanks guys! Great advice regarding leaving the aft ring in. I think I'm going to just see if I can order a new slotted airframe and sand the fins and CR and try again :) Thanks!

    Is this mistake fixable?

I realized after doing internal fillets that my motor mount isn't centered. It has a 4mm larger gap on one side than the other at the aft end. Putting on the rear centering ring is impossible this way. It will also clearly be thrusting off center. I guess I really have a few questions: 1. How...

Installing rail guides in assembled rocket

Using the flange nuts totally worked. This positioning is as far as I could get them apart though. The wood centering rings are too thin to hit with a wood screw, and I think they may split the wood.

Installing rail guides in assembled rocket

Hey guys, I have this annoying habit of completely forgetting to install rail buttons until the rocket is completed. I haven't successfully installed rail buttons - just guides that I glue on from apogee. Is it possible to install rail buttons after the rocket is assembled? I have two...
