    Question about motor mounts

So when assembling a motor mount with a retainer clip do you put a ring inside the mount in front of the clip? Some people do it, and some I don't see mention it. Also I have these thin plastic rings for motor mounts from the designer special, what do you use them for?

What do you guys think of this openrocket design?

Thanks for the replies! I didn't end up modify the design much.

What do you guys think of this openrocket design?

Yeah I forgot about the motor mount stuff. 3 mm is 1/8 inch I believe. Do know of any good cameras for model rockets? All those keychain ones have bad reviews, and i'm in canada so that's even harder.

What do you guys think of this openrocket design?

Its a D-motor payload rocket, that's able to carry a camera, altimeter, and like 20 grams of extra weight. what do you guys think? i'm still messing around with it.

I kinda screwed up the fins...

Well if papering won't do much i'll try that. Is 1/16 inch balsa a good choice for the fins?

I kinda screwed up the fins...

I'll try the papering. If they break just slap new ones on.;)

I kinda screwed up the fins...

If i scale down to a b6, and paper the fins would it be doable?

I kinda screwed up the fins...

From the bottom of the tube to the nose is 13 inches, the tube is bt 50. The fins are 1/16 inch thick, and it's all painted including the fins.

I kinda screwed up the fins...

The biggest motor that it will use is a C-6-5

I kinda screwed up the fins...

I only now after the rocket is finished discovered that the balsa fins are cut so that the grain is parallel with the root chord, and not with the leading edge. They're still fairly sturdy, is this a big problem?

    How accurate is openrocket?

So I entered the new empty CG (which is different), through sustainer tab. I redid the the simulations, and it checks out. So would you guys not bother doing the swing test?

    How accurate is openrocket?

I'll measure the CG, and put it in the sim. Don't know why I didn't think of that.

    How accurate is openrocket?

So I finished my first scratch-built rocket. I designed it in openrocket, and it said it's stable, the center of gravity, and center of pressure seem to be good. So do I still need to do the swing test?
