You might be a child in the 70s if:

That was before RPN and even before TI's first LED 5 function calculator. That altitude computer was only suitable, at best, for a one time use classroom instruction. Altitude reduction from tracking data was best done on a slide rule. (or much later on a programmable calculator with a print...

Do not use the Certified total impulse. Use the Average total impulse from the test data.

Encourage Estes to make a C5-0 Booster Motor!

The old C5-3 has been used as a booster motor, and the three second delay was effective in increasing altitude. YMMV

New Motors Certified, April 2024 (Aerotech)

Whitmore's B14 data shows Burns 13-16. So what happened with Burns 1-12? Anomalous, too ugly to show?

    Using old Aerotech composite motors...

I'd be tempted to do a complete disassembly and autopsy, before cremating the remains, but that is a lot of work. I'd probably just put it in the city hazardous waste stream and watch them puzzle over it.

Lpr , but a heads up!

I remember a trip I planned with my family to NARAM 14. We had four drivers (I had a learners permit.) and planned to mostly drive night and day, while taking in a few quick scenic stops. I had planned to go past Estes Ind., at the wrong time, but I thought I might snap a photo from the...

    3 Stage Boosted Bertha

I always wanted to try something like that. Although I was thinking of a disk of flash paper secured with a Sure-Shot. Is quick burst the best material to paint on the nozzle of a BP motor to increase reliability of upper stage ignition? I'm not sure I buy into that photon ignition...

    D12-3 CATOs Date code E22 0123

What happens if you install the igniter upon receipt of the motor and let the grain expand around the igniter with storage age? Does it render the igniter useless, or cato? How long could it extend the useful storage life of the SU motor?

    Foraging

My understanding is that carnivores (e.g. cats) are bad eating, while herbivores are mostly good eating. However, in the foraging sense, cats are easy to come by.

Max Thrust Advice for a Large BT-80 Rocket

I would expect standard Estes BT-80 to work well without any reinforcement, but I don't know your building skills, and Estes tubes may not be as good as they used to be. In any event, it is max q that you need to worry about, not acceleration.

Life Hacks... Those Little Tricks To Make Life Easier For you. Please Share Yours.

Hmm, chain saw life hacks. I saw a movie where the power went out and they had to start a pick-up truck to escape after they had drained the battery. They used a chain saw to start truck motor. The movie never showed or explained exactly how they did that. That is an interesting life hack...

Super Big Bertha fails spin test

The best thing about the swing test is that if the RSO refuses to let to let you fly over stability concerns, you can demonstrate the swing test and if you pass he will let you fly.

16th and final Delta IV Heavy launch on the 28th

It's about time. :( I remember interviewing with MD in early '78. I wanted to work on Delta and similar launch vehicle projects. The recruiter said it was just a bunch of grey beards winding things down until Shuttle. He could not be convinced otherwise, but I did get on job on missiles in...
